Bono's Chile Reception
The frontman of the world's biggest band of the past 20 years and global humanitarian Bono stopped off at the ambassador's reception last week to pick up an award and not for a posh chocolate in a gold wrapper!
U2 frontman Bono got yet another honour for his constant work for humanitarian causes - this time from the Chilean Ambassador in Ireland, Mr. Alberto Yoacham.
At a reception at the Ambassador's residence Bono was presented with the Pablo Neruda Medal of Honour for his important contribution to music, to humanitarian causes and for highlighting the plight of the poorest countries.
The plush occasion was to celebrate the Centenary of the Birth of the Chilean Nobel Prize winner, poet Pablo Neruda, one of Chile's most loved sons (born in 1904).
Bono, who seemed humbled by the occasion, brought along a couple of his mates for support (Guggi and Gavin Friday) and his stunning wife Ali Hewson .
Well, in fact Bono was dropped to the ceremony by Ali in their 2001 black Mercedes estate. Perhaps Bono's wife opted to drive in case he had one too many glasses of champagne?
