I think that was last week's chart performance (as it dropped from #3 to #6 in its fourth week).

oh I'm sorry. Mega top50 isn't updated yet. Top 40 is. #7 (#4), but this list is including airplay.

I'm not worried about countries outside the U.S. too much. U2 has shown that once they tour those countries, the album skyrockets back up the charts.

In contrast, this doesn't really happen in the U.S. U2 needs hit songs on the radio to get the album up the charts. The tour just keeps sales steady (barring the PopMart tour), but it doesn't really increase sales. So if HTDAAB is in the 60's by the time the tour starts, I expect it to stay in that general position until the summer, where it could fall out of the Top 100, unless a hit song is delivered.

ouch album is starting to fall everywhere

the album is holding well everywhere: still in the top 20/30 almost in every market...the only under-par performance comes from US (but only if we look at chart postions as sales indeed are huge: 2.5m in 15 weeks)

where did you find this out? i thought they didnt announce it until later? and if this is indeed true it is good news, normally singles have fallen well out of the top 40 by now, and the album is still in the top 40 also :)

again where did you find this out?

good to still see sometimes int he top 40 in the UK, i think thats 5 weeks in the top 40 now, though i really doubt it will be there next week.

HTDAAB stays at #26 which is really good, especially seeing as there are 7 new entries infront of them!

Hello,

Last week I didn't really find time to do a report on the Dutch charts. With others already reporting the results there was also nothing to add. At the moment there's not much U2 news here in Netherlands, but they are still a steady seller. Which you can see by looking at the Dutch charts, compiled by the Mega Charts (http://www.megacharts.nl), with the single sales only chart being published by Top 40 Web (http://www.top40web.nl).
How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb is already spending its 16th week in the top ten of the album chart. This isn't a record, as ATYCLB spent its first 21 weeks in the top ten. However, it does show that the album is selling very well for a long time. After dropping to #6 last week, the album rises again to #4 this week. Considering there's also a new entry at #2, this is very good.
Here is the chart run for How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb (27-11-2004)
1-1-2-3-4-4-5-6-7-8
6-1-1-3-6-4

After peaking at #2 and spending 3 weeks in the top ten, it looks like Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own is on its way down again. This week it drops 9 spots to #15. This is partly due to the fact that it also drops on the sales-only chart, but the drop is smaller there (from #6 to #9). So it seems radio support let the single down the past week. Hopefully that changes this/next week.
The chart run of Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own on the Mega Top 50 (12-2-2005):
36-2-3-6-15

The chart run on the sales-only chart (19-2-2005)
5-5-6-9

The #1 single is the kiddie act Chipz with One Two Three. The #1 album is again Hotel New York by Dutch rock singer Anouk.

C ya!

anybody have the Polish chart numbers?

Go to this link: http://www.lanet.lv/misc/charts/

Scroll down to Poland and select the links.

It's obvious U2 is charting in Poland, but since you asked, I assume you can translate it for us. That is, if you're serious. :eyebrow:

Keep us updated!

I predict U2 will be back in the top 10 on the global album chart this week, a lot of last weeks new entries should fall below HTDAAB, just depend on what new entries there are.

GLOBAL CHART

Sometimes up from #13 to #11
Greenday backl to #1

And down at 36, still in the Top 40 on the Global Chart, you will find Vertigo!

As for weekly sales around the world, I looked far and wide to come up with these estimates, which are just that, so if anyone knows for sure, let us know.

Week 15 (last week) Global sales HTDAAB = 94,000
Week 16 (this week) Global sales HTDAAB = 91,000

We are getting very close to "stabilization", and I think that will result in weekly, Global sales of between 85K-95K for quite some time.

Sometimes gained airplay and/or sales around the world this week over last week per the Global charts. By next week, HTDAAB will have it's 2nd Global Top 10 hit, and if we're lucky, it will get it's 2nd Global Top 5 hit, and first #1, within the next 4-5 weeks. Only BD cracked the Global singles chart from ATYCLB.

HTDAAB need a push from the States. Perhaps the "Hall-of-Fame-effect" will give this push. ROW sales are relatively constant.

is 91,000 for world sales any good? looks a wee bit low to me, specially when 50 cent is till selling over 200,000 a week in the U.S. alone

I think 91,000 is quite a good number. This translates to 4.5 million copies on a yearly basis. And it's a bit unrealistic to compare current HTDAAB sales figures to current sales figures for 50 Cent's new album, which has been out for only 2 weeks. Who knows what the sales figures for that album will be in 10 weeks? Besides, 50 Cent is mainly popular in the USA and much less in the rest of the world. The album could have debuted high in many different countries (it debuted at #2 here in the Netherlands), but I doubt sales figures will stay on that level (whereas U2 was #4 in that week, thus only 2 positions behind).
