It’s a funny place you can find yourself in sometimes
A halfway house of dislocation and grief
Crying a thousand million tears
And laughing out loud with the pain
The shattering clarity of truth splinters all illusion
Leaving reality lying naked on the floor
And for a moment there is peace
Then the demands become more strident
And with all guns blazing the innocent are caught in the crossfire
