Just caught this news from a e-mail newsletter about Metallica...I think it's pretty cool to see that U2 (along with Garbage) will also be involved, seeing how much an impact The Ramones had in the music world.

Rob Zombie is one of the co-producers of the CD, the tentative line up is:

01. ROB ZOMBIE - "Blitzkrieg Bop"
02. EDDIE VEDDER - "I Believe In Miracles"
03. RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS - "Havana Affair"
04. MARILYN MANSON - "KKK Took My Baby Away"
05. OFFSPRING - "I Wanna Be Sedated"
06. PRETENDERS - "Something To Believe In"
07. GARBAGE - "I Just Want To Have Something To Do"
08. MOTORHEAD - "Rockaway Beach"
09. GREEN DAY - "Outsider"
10. STATIC-X - "Gimme Gimme Shock Treatment"
11. RANCID - "Sheena Is A Punk Rocker"
12. U2 - "Beat on the Brat"
13. METALLICA - "We're a Happy Family"
14. TOM WAITS - "Jacky and Judy"

Me loves the Ramones, and I'm looking forward to this one

Alot of big name artists on this compilation and also alot of great talents. Can't wait to hear the whole cd. Though I don't know much of The Ramones' stuff I'll look forward to it.

Fantastic!
Just a few days ago, on the 15, I saw Garbage in concert. They played that Ramones song for the first time live, ever, and said something about how they were going to be on the tribute album.

The Joey Ramone tribute album is finally starting to take shape. The album is being organized by Rob Zombie and will feature cover versions of Ramones classics by such industry luminaries Red Hot Chili Peppers, Marilyn Manson, Green Day, and Eddie Vedder. According to Billboard, the previously reported contributions from Joe Strummer and Billy Corgan will not appear. However, further superstars have been added to the lineup and it can now be revealed that album will also contain recordings from Metallica, U2, and Garbage. The album is due out this summer on Columbia Records.

Interesting.

Ok let me be the first to say HOW FUCKING GOOD IS THE RANCID COVER OF SHEENA GONNA BE????? Wannabe, I am looking at you to back me up here. But anyway here's a good Ramone's related quote for y'allout of this book called Punk I just picked up...
*ahem*

"We walked into CBGB's and it was like 'We are home'. The Ramones came on stage, they counted off, '1,2,3,4' and they all started playing a different song. They threw down all their guitars in disgust and walked off stage. It was the best concert I'd ever seen in my life." - Legs McNeil
