Rock n' Roll Doggie FOB
These lil piggies - are pretty darn cool. Check `em out!
I think that both pedals would be quite useful for Edge tones. Edge does use a variety of boosts. Most of what he uses isn't so cheap. The $119 for the Pigtronics is a good price. It's certainly cheaper than a vintage Boss FA-1 or a Durham Sex Drive.
Pigtronics Class A Boost. ($119) - Might be the one to go to for 20db clean boost.
Pushes amps and/or dirt pedals nicely.

Newer MXR Compressors sort of suck. A vintage one like Edge's isn't cheap. And they could be a bit unreliable.
The Pigtronics Philosophers Rock. ($149) - Great compressor/sustainer. Not noisy like the some of the Boss and MXR compressors...
...+ it's got a 'grit' switch for Germanium Distortion. Sort of a three in one. Compressor. Sustain and Germanium Distortion.
the sustain is awesome. Watch the clip below. It would work great for slide bits...

Both are definitely worth checking at these and other youtube clips and maybe test driving a at your local guitar shop.
