This is a song I wrote about the lead singer of my former band. We were called Euphoriette and we recorded an album and played a couple big shows in Seattle (opening for Vendetta Red's second to last show). This is a song about the demise of our lead singer--he decided that cocaine and fake red-heads who were total sluts were more important than his wife and kids, our band, and stability in general. He used to be a good friend of mine until he turned his back on everyone and everything for his love of excess. This is my song for Gabe.

The music is mostly muted power chords, played with little to no distortion, synth, bass and drums. The vocals are low and droney (sorta Joy Divisiony, of if you've heard of them, Starflyer 59). Maybe shoegaze is a better word.

The Heart-Taker

doing lines won't get you far
stop me if this sounds familiar
you used to be what I admired
til your wrist chained to the mirror

heart taker, you were the one
heart taker, you wrote the songs
heart taker, no one will no your name
when you're dead and gone

you live for pleasures and for secrets
writing all about your regrets
what will happen to your wife and kids
when you're tempted by Red Lipstick?

heart taker, you were the one
heart taker, you wrote the songs
heart taker, no one will no your name
when you're dead and gone

where is the sunrise?
when did the sun set?
the angel of light
descended into darkness

heart taker, you came undone
heart taker, was it worth the fun?
heart taker, and no one knows your name
now that you're dead and gone
