girl in the shadows, like a wallflower
tired of pretending, tired of existing
while everyone gets drunker
and the smiles get whiter
she pauses to wish she couldn't feel
and thinks maybe
she'd look better in black and a nose ring
intimidation, imitation
she watches them hurt and do it again anyway
and she just hurts more
nothing connects, no one's ok
and every day
the quiet eyes staring,
staring from the darkness
grow in number
