I saw an latest soundscan update for the joshua tree at ukmix.org at a treat caled Top catalog albums of the soundscan era wich is at 3.191.000 in April this year.

In November 2003 it was 2.776.000 so it sold 415.000 since then. Impressive to me!!

It's a pitty that it's not recertified for 13 years. Because how many copies should be sold during the last certification (sep 95) and November 2003? I think it sold more than 11.000.000. All I can say it sold at least 10.415.000...

Excellent find. 11,000,000 in the United States is pretty much assured at this point.

I also found an articel at atu2.com (Back Catalogue Keeps the Wolf From U2's Door | U2 news article from @U2) wich stated that it sold 104.000 copies in its first 7 months of 1998. Also figures for War (44.000), Rattle and Hum (43.000), Achtung Baby (40.000) and Pop (45.000)

So we can say that 10.519.000 (10.000.000 + 104.000 +415.000)is really plausible. But I don't know if we can count the 779.000 of BMG record club sales with this. Does anybody know that?

For the other albums I have the following.

(I'm using the formula used by Edu for his US sales in his Worldwide Best selling albums ever threat at Ukmix.org.)

Boy (371.000 dec 05 - 384.000 Jul 06) = 13.000 + 1.000.000 (RIAA 1995) = 1.013.000

October (349.000 dec 05 - 358.000 Jul 06) = 9.000 + 1.000.000 (RIAA 1995) = 1.009.000

War (1.311.000 dec 03 - 1.413.000 jul 06) = 102.000 + 44.000 (1998) + 4.000.000 (RIAA 1995) = 4.146.000

Rattle and Hum (1.114.000 dec 03 - 1.196.000 jul 06) = 82.000 + 43.000 (1998) + 5.000.000 (RIAA 1995) = 5.125.000

Achtung Baby (5.329.000 dec 03 - 5.439.000 jul 06) = 110.000 + 40.000 (1998) + 8.000.000 (RIAA 1997) = 8.150.000

It's not perfect but I hope it's usefull to keep it's US sales up to date.
