If you´re able, pepokiss, bring us the news from Santiago. I'm from Sao Paulo/ Brazil. You´re a lucky fan. You deserve this treasure in your city ...

Do you have any more info on the LA event in Beverly Hills? I did email them so hopefully I will hear back something soon. Thanks again!

I saw the auction items for the Music Rising auction last year and totally recommend people checking these lots out if you have the chance. I feel like seeing the guys' gear in person sort of gives you a better insight into how they work and who they are.

I need to put the Beverly Hills dates in my planner.

that would be pretty cool to go to!

If I was in New York, I would so go to that auction. The last one was incredible and I know the Julien's and Music Rising people have the connections to make the event unforgettable.

Auction Net Might Gain an Edge
Could Music Rising' Auction Have Ripple Effects?

Edge_Les_Paul_170.jpg

The Edge is at it again.

U2’s ace guitarist and falsetto vocalist will be front and center at a May 31 celebrity auction at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York’s Times Square, benefiting Music Rising, his three-year-old campaign to aid musicians whose livelihoods were devastated by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in the Gulf Coast region. The auction's called Icons of Music 2008.

A year ago, Edge donated a 1975 Cream Gibson Les Paul guitar at a similar event at the same locale, listed at $60,000-$80,000. It sold for $240,000.

The cable-TV angle? Startup Auction Network, a Tulsa-based Web and cable network headed by a passel of former TV Guide Network executives in Oklahoma, will do a six-hour interactive Webcast of the auction, working with Julien’s Auctions of West Hollywood, Calif.

While Edge is front and center on the Julien’s Web site, sitting behind a gorgeous tie-dyed looking guitar, other items in the lot will include a signed Miley Cyrus guitar, suits worn by The Beatles while promoting A Hard Day’s Night, a Miles Davis owned and used trumpet – 400 lots in all.

The Wire has been trying to connect the dots. Work with us: The Cable Show is in New Orleans May 16-18. There are efforts surrounding the show to benefit denizens of the recovering host city. Auction Network, which announced launch plans in July 2007, is on the exhibitor list (Booth 3341).

What better way to promote the auction, the network and add some star power to the Cable Show than to bring in The Edge?

Auction Network has nothing to say on the subject, officials tell The Wire. But we remain vigilant.

Where are the rings? I only find his guitar.... any link??? Thanks!

the rings appeared as a possible item in the first article in this post (maybe the rings are in exhibition in Santiago, actually). Still, I haven't any pic of this exhibition. I think we have a friend here from Chile. I asked to bring us some news. I'm trying too, any pic of this exhibition in Santiago. I hope post anything here, soon.

U2 - THE EDGE DONATES MUSIC TRINKETS TO AUCTION

U2 guitarist THE EDGE is donating music memorabilia from his personal collection to charity, in a bid to raise cash to replace musical equipment destroyed in 2005's Hurricane Katrina.
The rocker - real name David Evans - will donate several items, including two guitars, to the second annual Icons of Music sale.
The money raised from the event will go to The Edge's charity, Music Rising, which aims to preserve the rich musical culture in New Orleans, Louisiana by replacing instruments lost in the atrocity.
The charity, which the star created in 2005, with record producer Bob Ezrin and Gibson Guitar Corporation's chairman Henry Juszkiewicz, has provided grants to replace instruments and equipment for 2,700 professional musicians and 50,000 students and church parishioners to date.
The 31 May (08) sale, to be held by Hollywood's Julien's Auctions at New York's Hard Rock Cafe, will also feature guitars played by late rocker Kurt Cobain, Slash and Johnny Cash, as well as a trumpet played by Miles Davis, and handwritten notes by Bob Dylan.
The Edge says, "There's something powerful about musicians giving instruments they own to an auction to aid musicians who are going through a particularly difficult time.
"A lot of musicians were forced to leave the city, leaving behind their instruments and record collections, everything they needed to do what they do.
"The kind of organic community music academy that was so supportive of handing down the traditions of this music from generation to generation was really vulnerable."

The Edge hosts charity auction amid work on new U2 album
By SANDY COHEN – 3 hours ago

LOS ANGELES (AP) — For the second year in a row, The Edge is putting his money where the music is.

The U2 guitarist announced Wednesday he will donate two Gibson guitars and other items from his personal collection to the "Icons of Music" auction benefiting Music Rising, a charity The Edge co-founded to replace musical equipment lost or destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.

"No one could ever come close to repaying the debt of those who have established this form (of music) that we all take totally for granted, this hybrid of European melody and African-American rhythm that's given us jazz and R&B and rock 'n' roll," he told The Associated Press by phone from Dublin, Ireland, where he and his U2 bandmates are crafting a new album. "There's something powerful about musicians giving instruments they own to an auction to aid musicians who are going through a particularly difficult time."

The Edge, whose real name is David Evans, created Music Rising in 2005 with record producer Bob Ezrin and Gibson chairman Henry Juszkiewicz to preserve New Orleans' rich musical culture after the devastation of Katrina.

"A lot of musicians were forced to leave the city, leaving behind their instruments and record collections, everything they needed to do what they do," The Edge, 46, said. "The kind of organic community music academy that was so supportive of handing down the traditions of this music from generation to generation was really vulnerable."

Music Rising has provided grants to replace instruments and equipment for 2,700 professional musicians and 50,000 students and church parishioners to date, he said.

The "Icons of Music" sale, hosted by Julien's Auctions, features guitars played by Kurt Cobain, Slash and Johnny Cash; a trumpet played by Miles Davis; and handwritten notes by Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney and Janis Joplin. Highlights from the collection will be exhibited in Chile, Ireland and Los Angeles before the May 31 auction at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York City. Aaron Neville is scheduled to perform at the event, which The Edge will host.

Meanwhile, he and U2 have been recording in their native Ireland. A new album is taking shape, The Edge said, offering no hints about its sound or release date. "It won't be in the next few months," he said.

"We went into this project allowing ourselves the indulgence of making music without thinking about where it was going to end up," he said. "We're starting to get serious now."

'Starting To Get Serious'
Ahead of the 'Icons of Music' auction next month, Edge has been talking about how the new record is coming together. The band, he says, 'are getting serious.'

"We went into this project allowing ourselves the indulgence of making music without thinking about where it was going to end up." he told Associated Press. "We're starting to get serious now."

Edge has donated two Gibson guitars and other items into the 'Icons of Music' auction which will raise funds for Music Rising, the charity he co-founded to replace musical equipment lost or destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.

"No one could ever come close to repaying the debt of those who have established this form (of music) that we all take totally for granted, this hybrid of European melody and African-American rhythm that's given us jazz and R&B and rock 'n' roll.

The auction includes guitars played by Kurt Cobain, Slash and Johnny Cash; a trumpet played by Miles Davis; and handwritten notes by Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney and Janis Joplin. The auction is set for May 31st at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York City when Aaron Neville is scheduled to perform and Edge will host.
