Tiny Hippo cartoon always reminds me of my favorite ever post from Texts From Last Night:
(352): i think it would be like really awesome if scientist could genetically engineer manatees to be like the size of goldfish so i could have one in my fishbowl and be like FUCK YEAH TINY MANATEE

 :cute: !!!!!

I think my sis would want one, too!

must look up this "Tiny Hippo" comic

I love how the "Bono in an elevator" picture always shows up in each new thread :D. JJAsi, thanks for the links to all that stuff, will have to look at/hear it at some point here.

:lmao:

That's...kinda what I was wondering.

Can't think of any weird cemetery stories of my own. I will say this, though, if you ever find yourself traveling through my part of the country, through Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, that sort of thing, you will come across a LOT of cemeteries at some point. Just out there in the open land, all on their own, or on the edge of some small town (usually as you're leaving it. Wouldn't want that to be your welcome to the town, after all :p).

*Nods*

Awwwwwww :(. Maybe she got a bit freaked out by his new appearance and didn't quite recognize him at first?

Glad to hear he's home now, though :). Yay!

I think it might be that he looks different, and smells different (he did have to spend one night at the vet's office, and one night at the vet's home....)

Agreed.

Moonlit_angel, I PMed you back...

:D

Probably. Poor little things, it's a very confusing situation for both of them. Hopefully she'll calm back down.

Hello, Dazz !

Kristen, got the PM, sent one back to you :).

thanks Grace--- it didn't show up on my computer but I went and looked it up!

( tho for some reason today- i'm more sensitive to even comics/cartoon extreme violence -- I would have preferred Tiny Hippo to have kicked Tiny Raven off of the branch instead!

For a few moments there, she was fine with him, and then the growling and hissing started back up...

LOL, awww. I feel so bad for your kitty!

Yeah, she's in a mood about something-cats seem to get kinda moody sometimes. I've noticed that with my cat-if she's all curled up by one of us/on one of us and we go to move and she has to get down as a result, she'll go off in a corner and just sit there by herself for a bit. And if we try to call her back, she just ignores us, like she's mad and pouting or something :p.

I need to show the Tiny Hippo cartoon to my sister. I think she'd enjoy it.

So is your kittah home, now!!??! read your posts from last thread. WHAT a WONDERFUL  Veterinarian!

Yes, kittah is home now! And acting so much like he used to it's not to be believed. :cute::love:

This vet is the best person ever. I love her.

Well, the one with the attitude problem is a calico, and we've been told they tend to be bipolar.....

And, oh, BTW, Grace..........

...when Bono is back in NYC for some manner of public/semi-public event
I'll teach ya how to stalk, IF you evah change your mind temperament-wise! :D:D

I'm afraid I will act like Tiny Hippo if I encounter some of the crazed fans others have encountered. Like, hey....this is finally my time, I WILL shiv you!

Tara, just popping in to say that my cats always have issues when one of them have been at the vet. A couple of them are chill about it, but a few of the higher strung ones hiss like crazy at him or her for half a day or so. It's the smell, it freaks them out and they think it's a strange cat. I usually just try to keep them apart in separate rooms till the funny smelling one smells like home again. I've also seen suggestions that you can dab vanilla at the base of all of their tails so they smell the same.

My calico is actually one of my sweetest cats, very timid. It's my tortie girl who is the psycho cat from nastyville.

Because it can't be said enough: Tiny Hippo.

Off to eat, just got home a few minutes ago and I'm starving. Have a nice evening, everyone. :)

OMG, I love the Tiny Hippo! I miss you ladies, doing a statistics class this semester, making me insane.

Dana (the calico) can definitely be counted as high strung.

Vanilla? On the base of their tails?

Aw, I had a sweet calico once. She was awesome. Her name was Wambli, and she was definitely a guardian cat. She nearly beat the hell out of a doberman once. It was neat. And, unless my parents, my brother and I were at home, she wouldn't let anyone in the apartment. My mom even got called at work once because the workers needed to repaint our porch, and she wouldn't let them in the door.

:sigh: I miss her. She died in 1997.

Yeah, vanilla sounds like an unusual solution, I've not heard that before, either! But hey, if it works, might as well go for it.

  I want to know more about THAT story!

Haha, aw, wow. Way to be protective!

Ours waits by the door for us when she hears us coming up the stairs. I can see her paws underneath the small crack at the bottom of the door as I come up the stairs and hear her meowing. Then sometimes she runs downstairs for some reason, and when we go to get her, she turns around and runs back up into the apartment. Go figure :p.

:sigh: I miss her. She died in 1997.

:(.

Hope the workout went well, Grace, and VP, enjoy your supper, catch you later!

Hi to U217 !

Also, because I want to say it once: Tiny Hippo. There. That's out of my system :D.

Are calicos known to be nutty? I adopted one a couple of years ago, from an abusive situation. I don't know how old she is or anything. But she is the sweetest cat ever.

  I want to know more about THAT story!
This back when we lived in Texas, and our neighbors in the building had 2 dogs: a poodle-type thing (one of those small ones, but not a miniature, I think) and a giant doberman. Well, my cat at the time didn't even bother with the poodle thing because she knew she could kick its ass. (and she could, too), but the doberman tried to be all tough and be the boss of the situation. Ince it actually managed to chase her up a tree, and the owner had the nerve to say, "I think your cat has a deathwish with my dog," to which I replied, "No, your dog has a deathwish with my cat."

And the next day, my cat beat up their dog. It was best sight ever. After that, the doberman never went near our cat again.

We had to leave her with my dad's parents when we went to Guam, and they said she got hit by a car.... she must've missed us so much and was trying to look for us, because she never went on the road before. She understood that it was dangerous.

Actually, the way they said it was way more mean: "She decided to play speedbump."

:lmao:...oh, my god, that is awesome. I've never heard of a cat scaring the crap out of a dog like that before, 'cause dobermans aren't exactly, you know, tiny animals. Cats can be pretty intimidating, though, if they need to be-I've gotten a bit startled before if our cat hisses at me if she's not in the mood to play or I somehow bother her bad leg or something. And she doesn't look like she could hurt a flea.

But man, I would've liked to see that scenario play out. I feel kinda bad for the dog, though :p.

 :( Okay, that's got to be one of the saddest, most heartbreaking stories I've ever heard. Poor thing. I'm so sorry about that .

This was all when I was about 6 or 7, and that dog was bigger than I was!

She had to be tough, though. She was the runt of the litter, and the people who owned her mom also had a dog, who had eaten 1 or 2 of her siblings. So, she sorta learned early: don't trust dogs.

Oh, we when got her, she was so tiny! She fit in the palm of my dad's hand. :cute:

She was really a great cat. She ate grapes, broccoli, and popcorn. And beef jerky. :shifty:

That's alongside her actual cat food. She was a sneaky little thief when it came to beef jerky.

I'm watching Jamie sleep, and I realize the only thing that freaked me out when I saw him this morning was the fact that they had to shave his fur around his eye.

Other than that, everything was good.

Any Lost lovers around? I saw this Valentine today, and it cracked me up.

*Shakes head* Wow. That's just crazy.

Ah, well, there ya go, then :D. I always find it so funny when I look at animals when they're babies, they look so innocent and cute, and then you think that they can grow up to be quite the fighters and predators...it's kinda funny. I always love it when an animal is inbetween not being a baby anymore and just getting into its adult years, and it's starting to practice its roar or growl or whatever menacing sound it's supposed to make, but all that comes out instead is a pathetic, tiny attempt at the sound.

:cute: I can't get over the fact that baby animals can be that tiny sometimes. I love it when they can fit all snugly like that, though, it makes them even cuter.

Haha, that's great. Yeah, you can try and hide the food all you want, they'll find their way to it if they really want it.

Broccoli and popcorn are kind of odd choices-I've never heard of a cat munching on that stuff before :p.

Our cat's usually pretty good about our food-she might come over and look at it, sniff it a little bit, but when we shoo her away she just turns around and goes off to do something else, she doesn't really get into our food much*. She has been very interested in fish sandwiches when I've eaten them, though (but cats generally like fish, at least that's the stereotype, so that's not a surprise), and sometimes I get those chocolate-covered pretzels to snack on, and the bag they're in looks and sounds remarkably similar to the bag cat treats are in and the noise they make.

I swear to god, without fail, every single time I go to open up the bag of pretzels, doesn't matter where she is at the moment, if she hears that sound, I turn around and she is right there, staring up at me expectantly, thinking they're her treats and I'm going to give her one. Then she looks all confused when I start eating the pretzels, like, "Why are you eating my treats?"

*She may not get into our food, but she sure does like trying to get into our cupboards and drawers. And she is OBSESSED with trying to get into our bathroom! She's actually managed to open the door and go in there, where she'll either get in the cupboard, or sit in the tub, or, in one instance, sit on the bathroom sink .

This pic was the one left out of the mandatory first post. Larry is not pleased

Ooh I'm totally BUSTED. :shifty: I KNEW zooey would notice, dammit!

:tsk:

Larry should never be left out of the obligatory pics.

Well, technically he wasn't. There's still a Larry, and since Edge and Adam only got one, Larry isn't any more special than they are. unlike certain other rockstars.

Are calicos known to be nutty? I adopted one a couple of years ago, from an abusive situation. I don't know how old she is or anything. But she is the sweetest cat ever.

From what my vet told me, tri-coloured cats (who are almost always females) are known to have attitudes. But my calico and my tortie are polar opposites. Abby the calico is sweet, gentle, shy (she hides if anyone other than Sarah and I is here) and very polite - she'll come up to me and almost wait for permission before she comes over to be snuggled. Zoey the tortie is clingy and possessive of me, bordering on neurotic. She doesn't wait for an invitation, she barrels right over me, no matter what I'm doing. Anything that displeases her in the least is answered with an emphatic "MRRREEOOOWWW." She hisses at her brothers and sister over any perceived slight, real or imagined. She's a character.

It's been interesting having so many cats who all grew up together in the same environment with the same people and the same amount of attention, and seeing how they've all developed very different personalities in spite of their exact same upbringing.

My vet also told me that despite the attitude, torties make really good mothers. Fortunately, Zoey will never test that theory.

I feel you with the statistics. I had to take 4 stats courses for my degree. Hated the classes, didn't do that great in them, but when it came to doing my own research and running my own data, I learned a LOT more, and found it geekily appealing. Good luck with the course!

I noticed too, but since you said something about image limits, I knew you had to cut one.

Figures that Larry's the one that gets cut. :tsk:
