This weekend there's a gigantic record fair in the city where I live. Yesterday I got my wage statement (Yay for bonus and holiday pay!) and today I found 2 blue envelops in the mail (which means in the Netherlands it's from the tax department). I got a nice refund!

All of this is just to excuse the list that is coming. At that record fair I just bought:
Aretha Franklin - Queen Of Soul (4CD box on an amazing offer there ~28 euro)
Smokey Robinson and the Miracles - The 35th Anniversary Collection (4CD box even cheaper at ~20 euro)
Elton John - Greatest Hits 1970-2002 (3CD set for ~11 euro)
Peter Gabriel - Hit (2CD best of for 7 euro)
Massive Attack v Mad Professor - No Protection (4 euro)
Honeymoon In Vegas soundtrack (5 euro)
Blondie - Atomic: The Very Best Of (5 euro)
Tr?ckener Kecks - Andere Plaats, Andere Tijd (6 euro)
Tr?ckener Kecks - Twintig-jaar-geleden-meisje (CD single, 3 euro)
Hero - Jam! (5 euro)

In addition, I bought the Travelling Hearts At A Travelling Show book (hardcover and signed by Steve Averill and Shaun McGrath) and The U2 File, A Hot Press History. :hyper:

I have never paid much attention to Smokey Robinson, but I saw the boxset and one of the first songs on it is called All I Want Is You. I was sold. :crack:
The Blondie CD is for my sister. I have that one myself and my sister keeps asking me to burn it for her. Well, this is almost just as cheap.
Oh, and for the Dutchies who know who Hero is: I really had to buy that one for a girlfriend. Really!

I buy too many CD's... :reject:

bad religion - suffer
dropkick murphys - walk away (single) 7"
dropkick murphys - fields of athenry 7"

Where is BC?

I thought she would have been here by now.

I'm so embarrassed. :reject:

I'll 2nd Salome with Gold for two reasons:

1. It's my fave.
2. It has the most songs on it.

I finally gave in and bought cds...after a long dry spell...

Malcom Middleton - 5:14 Fluoxytine Seagull Alcohol John Nicotine
Rachel's - Systems/Layers

it took you long enough

I've listened to most of Massive Attack Vs. Mad Professor and I have to say it's good! This is the dub version of the Massive Attack album Protection. I quite like those dub thingies and this is no exception. I am glad that the album by Hero is for somebody else though. It's quite rubbish. :uhoh:

Point of this post: If you like dubby music, buy No Protection!

C ya!

Marty

I also was on a dry spell of new music...until recently when I picke up these three cd's...

The Stills - Logic Will Break Your Heart

Jet - Get Born

Hoobastank - The Reason

I usually have to do my purchasing at the el cheapo end of the spectrum( except when it comes to U2)
I bought
African Herbsman- Best of Bob Marley
The Platters and The Drifters Collection- great songs, I like to sing along :D
2nd hand copy of Radiohead-The Bends- love it!
Eva Cassidy- Live At Blues Alley- I love her version of Fields of Gold
Fatherhood- various artists, great compilation
someone gave me Christy Moore- Live at the Point Theatre 1994

I have birthday money burning a hole in my pocket and we're off to Coffs Harbour today:hyper: I'll check the 2nd hand music shop first, but I might lash out and buy the NEW:faint: Epicure album. I love Juan's voice and I like to support young independent Australian musicians.

I got a free copy of Musicology at the concert the other night...it was included in the ticket price.

I picked up a couple of Dead Can Dance CDs, "Aion" and "Into the Labyrinth", after falling in love with Lisa Gerrard's voice.

Also The Essential Clash, just to have the songs from the albums I don't really wish to buy in full.

even better, AT LAST!!! Epicure will have to wait, I got

Emmylou Harris-Stumble Into Grace
It was reduced from $30 to $20 :applaud:

I also got U2 -The Sweetest Thing single for $2 at the 2nd hand shop...always worth a look

I picked up "Blur - Think Tank" today for free mind you....thanks bro!

Trying to listen to it now, but I'm going to be interupted soon.....think I'll save it for later.

josh rouse - 1972 (does anyone know this guy, probably the best solo songwriter around)
archive - noise

Funny I should happen upon this thread today. Rouse is a excellent singer/songwriter and I have this as well as Cold Blue Stars, which I slightly prefer, a big

I purchased
Muse- Absolution at the show the other night, after months and months of listening to MP3s I broke down and supported these guys. Well worth the 12$....
