what a turd. he won't mean anything to the yankees and their fans compared to what he was in boston.
he's gonna score a lot of runs, the yanks may win a lot of games, but unfrozen caveman baseball player will be no more. no beard, no long hair - all close cropped and pinstripes:yuck:
i hate the fucking yankees, and i hate scott boras even more. for my money, no way damon lives up to this, he'll wind up miserable eventually.
problem is, i'm miserable about this NOW.

would you turn down that offer? im guessing no.

that's irrelevant - i wouldn't turn down the red sox offer either.
or an offer for 4 years, $1million, for that matter. the numbers are too big for me to comprehend.:|

no its not irrelevent. if the red sox offered you 4 years 1 million, you'd take that over what the yankees offered? if you say yes, youre lying

We're fans here, not players.

Some people are fans of certain teams.

They prefer to see them win, rather than other teams.

Of course all $ is green, and business is business.
This is all just really rich guys playing "My dick is bigger than your dick."

don't get hostile, i'm no liar, and you don't know me.
i'm saying if someone offered me $250K to do something, and that for 4 years, i'd take it. certainly i'd take more if it was offered. but in my current way of thinking, it would never get there, cos i'd fold sooner. i certainly don't have mr. boras whispering sweet nothings in my ear either.
4 years 40 million is a buttload of money to hit and run. 4 years 50 million is a buttload more. he made the right decision for his bank account, little else appears to matter in athlete's decision making. funny, because a lot more goes into my decision making regarding jobs, etc...
and i like the sox and am entitled to be pissed.

booze and porn.

Also lame commercials, endorsements and book deals. And don't forget the booze and porn, either.

As far as the $$$ for Damon goes, its just more of the same from George. But unless Johnny develops a 95 mph heater and a deuce that falls off a table in the next three months, I don't see how the Yanks will be better off.

Now, back to booze and porn.

yea... why would an offense that's been lacking a true leadoff hitter since the last time they won the world series be better off by signing the best lead off hitter in the game.

you're right... i can't see how they'll be better off, either.

I wonder if Johnny (read thatScott Boras) is really looking at the big picture here.
Sure he got $3mil per year more than the Sox' official offer, but...
The Sox would likely have gone a little higher, lets say 4 years, $44Mil.
Now here in Boston, Damon has achieved rockstar type status, doing commercials etc.
In NY, he'll be lucky to be the 6th or 7th most sought after Yankee for endorsement deals. Take away the Captain Caveman look as decreed by King George, and a lot of $$$ off the field ends up on the barbershop floor as well.
Perhaps a move Damon may regeret over time...we'll see.

Perhaps if someone else had stayed working rather than spend the last few weeks in S. America with McCready and company, Damon would still play in Boston.

Agreed

that pitching staff isn't so good....
RJ is like 88 years old now w/ no cartelidge in his knee, Moose can be a headcase, Chacon might win you 13 games, Wang could be very good, and then Pavano (um, not quite living up to THAT deal)

and yes, let's get back to booze and porn

right you are.
the yankees have been designed (for the last 5-7 years at least) to outscore other teams, rather than limit other teams from scoring. so far, that premise hasn't brought home the bacon, nor has it allowed the yanks to win 110 games and run away with the division...i suppose if it happens this year, they'll have damon to thank for it, as they are returning essentially the same lineup from last year (that didn't get the job done). the playoffs showed us that pitching wins. i can only hope that beckett pans out, and that the sox can fill some of their defensive holes (last count was 3!). luccino sucks.
if that doesn't happen, break out the booze and porn - could make for a very drunk and sticky spring and summer.

Yeah, a legit LO hitter really kept the yanks off the scoreboard this past year. Too bad they didn't have the offense to go with that overwhelming pitching staff.
