Just u2. I'll be at the violent femmes in July and pixes in Sept.

I don't know what it was about this last concert but it just felt like it was just ok. Normally it's my trying to convince my wife that it was so awsome and she has no taste. But it was me going....hmmmm. Oh well. The TV screen was fucking awsome!!!

BTW I was a tall white guy with a shorter Asian wife. You probably saw us on the rigging rail. My wife likes to be able to see. We were with two toronto cops. Great guys.

I've been on the rail six times I think, twice thanks to the lottery on Vertigo (one of those I arrived at 5pm!). A couple more times if you count "undesirable" rails, like when I was on the rail behind Red Zone once, or on the inside of one of the arms of Vertigo's 2006 stadium set-up so most of the time I was looking at the main stage with my back to the rail.

I've never queued overnight and never would. I think I've only once queued from earlier than 9am, and only a few times before late afternoon. What gets me about these people obsessed with the rail is that they travel to all of these cities but mustn't see much of them between queuing, show, and sleeping. I've prioritised seeing where I'm visiting, and found being third row just as enjoyable as first, with far less stress required to get it.

Also, guess what, the guy who runs the setlist website doesn't have a single U2 setlist, drumstick, pick, whatever. Guess I'm just an inferior fan.

Yeah, I was at the back, wearing a Jays t-shirt (rabid Jays fan too, trying to figure out how close to 1st base we would have been, haha)...and female.

I enjoyed the concert a lot, loved hearing the JT tunes that are rarely or never played. And yeah, I was in awe of the screen, such amazing resolution for a screen that size. Technology. I'll continue to go to Toronto shows, but these days, it would take a lot to get me to travel to multiple shows per tour, the way I have in the past. The setlists these past few tours just don't vary enough to warrant multiple shows for me. Which I am fine with.

For upcoming TO shows, I'm seeing Third Eye Blind at Echo Beach this Wednesday, then Blondie and Garbage next month, front row seats at Massey Hall for the New Pornographers in October  and Arcade Fire at ACC in Nov.

The funny thing about today's mess is, they essentially threatened violence to get their way, by saying their was a "riot vibe" in the line. Can't even express how shitty it is to give these people their way for such bad, entitled behaviour.

Xanadu will rise from the ashes with enough tax credits to buy a thousand U2 screens.

Perhaps if the majority of us who think this list thing is bullcrap tweet at Guy Oseary we'll shout out the rest... as it apparently works.

I still need to read through the last couple of pages and a bunch of tweets, but this sounds fucking great.

But hey, keep posting "sorry haters" with that smarmy real estate agent photo of an avatar. You're a big man mate.

I heard through the grapevine that one person in particular in 'charge' of all this nonsense, is coming to Europe to 'help' organize the lines, you know, out of the goodness of his heart. I asked him on Twitter and he doesn't reply. I guess that's a 'yes but I'm too chicken to admit it'?

he would not have a chance in Europe - would LOVE to see him try to pull a stunt like that in Paris :D

Alas, it didn't turn out nearly as great as it could have.

Yeah, just seen the latest posts on facebook and read the rest of this thread. That was a quick comedown. :( Love the fact that the baby who rallied people to bother Craig Evans is now singing his praises and bragging about his rail spot. The entitlement of these jumped up assholes is mindblowing.

Told you guys, everything always works out for those that out the effort. And U2 management approves the system as I knew.

Sorry haters.

Please explain how effort was put in? I'm at work for the next 6 hours, I can wait.

hahahaha

edit - wait, are the "fan club" people she's talking about the line runners or just normal people?

Literally was going to make the same observation and ask if he handed out his business card to the other DBs in line.

This guy makes me ashamed to be part of this fan community, another entitled crybaby and sore winner.

I'm pretty conflicted by this. I like being near the band, I'm not gonna lie. I used to do the lineup overnight thing and camp out.

But here's where I'm wondering about what a couple of you - who I care about a lot - have said about it being a secret list or started before it officially being allowed..to the disadvantage of the general public who is not informed..isn't that precisely how the old style camping lines started too? They were always started well in advance of anything official, and it was thru word of mouth, text, email, on the forums..essentially "secret". So how is it any different now?

Let's start there?

I'm not a fan of it, tbh. But..it's a system. And I've been in a line that intended to camp out that got told that that we couldn't stay. So the list spawned out of that so that people would honor the actual physical space that they had already occupied in line. I was there when it happened.

I can also say that my friends started and maintained the Toronto line..hell, my own bass player and close friend was #16 and did one of the night shifts...and even with all that...I was #92. I don't know about all these claims of people being signed up in absentia..I want proof. Cause it sure didn't happen for me! Lol

You literally just said everything I've ever wanted to say. The funny thing is most of them have formed side cliques because they end up hating each other at the end of the tour. These people aren't really friends generally anyway, they're just users to get what they want. I'd far rather go visit my U2-made friends outside of a show (and I do, a lot) than "pretend" I have friends on show day. Total garbage and as far as I'm concerned the friendships I've made are worth far more than being on a rail acouple of times.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Anybody who has ever been to a concert knows the hardcore fans are going to be there early camping out overnight for that spot on the rail. So at the risk of sounding like a massive hypocrite camping out early is very much a fact of life with shows by acts this big.

I wouldn't say that's secretive and at least with that scenario if you went to the stadium the night before or early in the morning you'd actually see a long line of people sat in sleeping bags and folding chairs, putting in the hours and actually earning that spot, which these people clearly aren't prepared to do anymore.

So now, instead of a very obvious sign that people are lining up early and if you want the rail spot you'd better join the line before it gets any longer, you have one person sat somewhere off site with a notepad and sharpie holding spots for 200+ people?? Sod that.

And on the secrecy thing it's only recently that people have tried "infiltrating" pretty off-the-beaten-track Facebook groups to get the line info out to more people. There's no question about them intentionally keeping it very secret to begin with.

They only share the line/list location and check in info with a wider audience under duress, it's never willingly given as we saw with that woman keeping the security stuff from everyone else simply so she could remain the one in the know and in charge. It's fucking pathetic, her especially seeing as she's been up on stage before and let's face it that's why she pulls shit like this.

It couldn't be clearer that these people think they're one level up on the U2 pecking order and are doing their best to protect that imaginary status. Fact is, they bought the same fucking ticket as everyone else and have no right telling the rest of a field of people what to do.

The queueing in Europe is simple- there is always a defined place to queue, and unless you must be on the rail getting to the venue about an hour before gates open will get you to the gold circle. I dont understand the need people seem to have to be on the rail at a stadium show, on the last stadium tour the stage was so high you wouldn't see anything

Remember Gregory, the French fan who accused that person in Toronto of faking their injury? Well, he was in Foxboro tonight. He tried to elbow my friend off the rail. He can eat a giant bag of dicks
