First of all, this is depressing because it's our 20th reunion and I just can't believe I'm that old!

But seriously, I don't want to go. I was a nerd in high school with very, very few friends and most of them weren't even in my class. And the people on the reunion committee are the very same people in the popular clique that I couldn't stand in high school. Yeah, I'm really gonna enjoy a party thrown by those folks.

Strangely enough, I was already planning to go back to my hometown that particular weekend before I even knew the reunion was happening! Somehow that makes it a bit more difficult to throw the invitation in the wastebasket.

Any thoughts?

If there's anyone you're interesting in seeing or catching up with, or if you just have a morbid curiosity about whatever became of So and So....... go. Have some drinks, eat some appetizers, point & laugh at those who deserve it.

On the other hand, if you couldn't care less about the people you spent 4 years with 20 years ago - don't go and don't think twice about it. If it sends you into a state of panic thinking about it, you don't need to be there and you should feel fine with that decision. What these people do or don't think about you shouldn't matter one iota -- they don't live your life.

(And yes, I have taken my own advice. FYI, I chose the first option - my best friend & I (with our husbands) went to our 15th a year ago & had a great time pointing & laughing. )

My 25th is this year. I've no clue if I'll go yet.

Post-its. Tell them you invented Post-its.

:lmao:

Yes, Romy and Michelle did cross my mind since getting the invite.

The letter included the Web site for our class - I had no idea we even had one! About half of our class members have their profiles posted and it's been kind of strange reading them. It did help me remember that not everyone in my class was a total jerk. There were a few nice, interesting people I'd like to see again. But there were others who were completely horrible to me. I did get a little satisfaction out of seeing some people who thought they were so cool when we were in high school are still living in our hometown! Losers!

I think I will post my profile. It doesn't mean I have to go to the reunion or anything.

I hated hs too, have never gone to a reunion and wouldn't. I think it's sad to relive all that all over again, what's the point?

Who wants to be judged like that all over again? If you go, hire some fabulously gorgeous male escort (not that you couldn't get one free on your own..this is more like my fantasy :D), get some great fake diamonds, and arrive in a suitably posh rented vehicle

I graduated from HS 3 years ago, but I've already decided I'll never go to the reunions. I mean, why would I ever even consider paying money to travel there and attend a reunion full of people I either despised or had absolutely nothing in common with in the first place? The few good friends I made in HS are still very good friends so we can do stuff together on our own. We went to a private school full of rich preppy kids who thought a real life crisis was when daddy wouldn't pay for car insurance for their new SUV or JEtta or mommy wouldn't increase their allowance to $200. The only thing I really cared about in HS was gymnastics and I know where my former teammates are and how to contact them, if I ever wanted to.

Go and laugh at the loosers who used to think they were cool.
This is the only reason I would consider going. I am only friends with 2 people from high school. I love them both dearly. The 3 of us vowed that we would only go if we all went together. My high school reunion is will be a train wreck. (it's next year, 10 year) :D
