Thanks to Bono's back surgery there was an eight-month gap between legs. So third-leg Europeans, Australians, Kiwis and South Africans got fucking terrible in-between setlists, where the focus seemed to be on as much ease as possible (Mercy aside, that was awesome). Then the fucking 20th anniversary of Achtung arrived and every setlist from the start of 2011 to the end of the tour was great.

each show (I saw Melb 1, Melb 2, Bris 1) was worse than the one before it, but I genuinely don't think, as a U2 fan, that you could not enjoy a show. Those setlists were as bad as they get but still so many great moments.

So my quick scan shows someone @ 93 most so far... not that it's a contest, but I'm curious if anyone knows anyone personally that has seen more... anybody north of 150 or 200?
I remember reading a story out here once around Elevation maybe... someone found a way to see like 20+ shows on one tour leg, sleeping on concrete around arenas and finding ways to score tickets... it was a long and very fun post to read detailing this person's experience.
On a separate note, anyone have a spouse or significant other that thinks north of 10 is madness? I won't say I do, but I might..

July 18th in Philly will be my 18th show since 1985....
If you're going to your first U2 concert, you want to hear them play Sunday Bloody Sunday and Pride. But if you're well into the double digits, it really would be sweet to hear ASOH live.
That said, I absolutely cannot complain. I was there for the shocking live debuts of both Your Blue Room and The First Time, two of the most holy-shit-I-cant-believe-theyre-actually-playing-that songs ever.
But I love the Streets and the Beautiful Days and the Elevations just as much every single time I go, and would even have a great time at a concert where the setlist was Vertigo x20.
Looking forward to a great time this weekend in Chicago, regardless of whether they're the exact same sets as the two Texas shows or not.

So my quick scan shows someone @ 93 most so far... not that it's a contest, but I'm curious if anyone knows anyone personally that has seen more... anybody north of 150 or 200?

A good friend of mine is near 200 shows, starting back in 1981 I believe, couple of others are past 100
For the record my next show will be my 40th, which started with 3 shows on the original JT tour

My partner is impressed at how many shows I've gone to, despite not being a bit interested in U2. Bearing in mind I'm only at seven.

If I saw this entire tour and they start to drop in Desire or Angel of Harlem, I'll still have heard One Tree Hill more. I've heard One Tree Hill more than some of the regulars.
Still, play Elevation or Pride? HELL YEAH.

Thanks for sharing that... a friend of mine saw a show in Fort Collins, CO one time... he suggested they played several songs twice that night in 1980 or 1981... Vertigo X 2 has roots from way back in the day I suppose though I never looked up the U2Gigs database to see if this was fact or alternative fact...

for me, it will always be about the show I didn't see (Tempe $5...well, 2 shows, I guess). I have the ticket, untorn...I could have easily gotten a ticket for the other night. But snow up north and parents = I didn't get to go.
I feel like JT30 (Pasadena 1) helped fill that hole in my life. But I still get a little sick to my stomach when R&H goes color or I watch the One Tree Hill video from that show...
Zoo TV was my first, so that is pretty fantastic. My first concert ever was Pink Floyd (Delicate Sound tour at Phoenix Muni), so I have good stories, but that missed $5 show still bugs the shit out of me.

i have two friends who are either approaching that territory or who are already north of that 150 number. i reference them any time my wife complains about my wanting to go see U2 for the 23rd and 24th time.

there was a dude who used to post here.... I think his name was cathal or something. he was writing a book about couchsurfing and seeing hundreds of shows.
