Accused U2 stalker out on bail
By SAM PAZZANO -- Toronto Sun
A man accused of stalking U2 bassist Adam Clayton for three years was freed on $500 bail yesterday.
Robert John Hector, 34, was released under supervision of the Toronto Bail program and prohibited from contacting any members of the popular Irish rock band or its managers.
"I have nothing to say except Madonna is the greatest,"
Hector, of Toronto, said outside the courtroom. He is back in court on Nov. 5.
Justice of the Peace Jim Oates warned Hector that if he violates his bail conditions, he'll be taken into custody. He was banned from possessing weapons or explosives, and forced to surrender his passport. Hector was arrested Monday before the band's SkyDome show and charged with criminal harassment.
Police said a man phoned Clayton up to 200 times a day, and in March 1996, flew to Dublin where he was arrested outside Clayton's home.
