It's odd they didn't do a single mix that either finished the Kendrick verse or cut it out completely.
I'll reiterate what I said in the general SOE thread: I can tell they were aiming for ATYCLB uplift, and after two listens I think they nailed it. Good lyrical and melodic work from Bono and the whole song feels like it's floating. Kendrick outro is cool too, but I wish it didn't cut off
Things that will be said on Interference when Get Out of Your Own Way is released:
1. It should have been the lead single.
2. My non-U2 friends love it.
3. I can really see this one charting and hitting the mainstream.
4. It's going to go viral on Youtube/Last.fm, etc.
5. It's their best single since (insert BD/Vertigo).
The outro with the Kendrick preacher I absolutely hate. It ruins it for me. And the effect on the word "superstars" is absolutely cringe. And it is really stupid and lazy how it just cuts off ON THE SINGLE VERSION.
I don't think this is bad. It's cheesy, but Bono "The Cheddar" Vox is gonna bring that to most songs these days.
I think the structure of the song is pretty spot on, the wailing backing vocals are maybe a bit much but they work. Some nice Edge tone there at the back end of the song.
Catchy as a pubic crab.
Nice work, U2.
Disclaimer: The 'rap' at the end is so utterly dreadful. Why? Why? I can't play this song for any friends now. Cause they'll hear the end bit. And I can't allow that.
