Mrs. Edge
Bono's Belly Dancing Friend
Yes folks, for maybe 90 seconds I had Bono and Edge's undivided attention in Montreal! Here's what happened:
As many of you know, I am a HUMONGOUS Edge fanatic. So much so, that I decided to make my first concert sign, which read: "No Offense Bono, but I want to dance with THE EDGE!" (with a big heart) I knew it would have to be short and sweet, but also unusual. I was a bit worried that it would insult Bono, but then again, I don't think he gets insulted that easily, and furthermore, he loves the Edge so much, I figured he'd get a kick out of it.
Although I was very nervous, and felt kind of like an idiot holding it up and then putting it down when they weren't looking, right when they started Angel of Harlem, I decided to hold up my sign again. It looked like Edge had read the sign (he had a vague smile) but it was hard to tell. Then they did Staring at the Sun, and I tried again. At the end of the song, I held it up for Bono, who stood and read it. It's a strange feeling knowing that THE Bono is reading YOUR sign. This small smile came on his face, which became a grin. He looked right at me and made this gesture like "Oh, I'm sorry, but I just can't! There's nothing I can do!" Then I thought that was it, so I put the sign away, feeling very excited that Bono had looked at me. Edge had made his way along the ramp towards the front. Suddenly, I noticed that Bono had gone after Edge and was talking to him. Then they began to search the crowd a few feet away from me. I began to panic. "Meee! It was meeeee!" I screamed. I held up the sign again, and they both looked at me. Bono laughed and Edge read the sign. Edge then burst out laughing and gave me the most adorable, crinkly, Edgie smile you have EVER SEEN! I would have done ANYTHING for a picture of that!!! So this brings me to my question. Does anyone out there know anyone who was near the Edge rail and might have taken a picture of him laughing? If so, I WOULD REALLY like to get a copy of this picture!
Anyway, this is me making a big fuss about something that happened so quickly, but it was so exciting. This is the great thing about Bono. Not only can he take a little teasing, but he could have just gone, oh, ha ha, cute and moved on, but he actually GOT THE EDGE for me! What a sweetie. I LOVE BONO. He made my night!
Now I have to come up with a great follow up sign for Vegas. I would have put it up in Hamilton, but the People Get Ready guy beat me to it.
Anyway, today I am totally bagged, because between Montreal and Hamilton, we got NO sleep for 48 hours!!!! It was so worth it though. I have a splitting headache and heartache that it's over. If it weren't for Vegas, I'd be suicidal!!! AAAGGGHHH! Why couldn't Bono have just pulled me up to hug Edge for 2 seconds?!?!?! Now I have to go through this agony again in Vegas!
Oh, BTW, the funniest part about being in the GA line was the reaction that Steve got. (I really need to get some pics where Steve isn't smiling, because that's when he REALLY looks like Edge) We would walk along the line and people would spontaneously shout "The Edge The Edge!" just like they do with the real thing! Another guy yelled "Salut, The Edge!" from the other end of the line! At least 20 people came up to get photos with Steve. It was very bizarre, but so much fun!
Anyway, I hope everyone going to the shows has an AWESOME time, I know you will. And for everyone going to Vegas, SEE YOU THERE!
