I figured I'd pick it up on RSD, might luck out and it won't be as stupidly expensive as it is right now. When did vinyl price jump up so high?
Anyone hear the 3 Bonus tracks on the Deluxe Edition? Wondering if they're worth it.
I feel slightly vindicated.
I saw him live, probably a dozen times in the 70s and 80s, this new album is best thing he has done in decades. If he does go live, I hope the venue in not too big. I have some great photographs from those live shows, taken by a professional photographer. They are about 16 X 20 inch mounted. They are in my attic in boxes, I should get them out. Can't find anything on line that in near as cool as they are.
I'm guessing that the reason people like El Mel are ranking it a little higher is mainly because this album has a bit more energy, looser and less polished.
In the 70's?
Wow
Stars Are Out Tonight, while a great song in many ways, feels a little lost from a vocal perspective.
yes, I am in my 50s, hate to admit that, but I am not getting any younger. I started going to live shows when I was in my teens. I used to go to several a week.
none of us choose the time or the place we are born,I wish i could have been at a Bowie gig (or Pink Floyd, Stones, Zep etc) in the 70's. But i was born in the middle 70's...
none of us choose the time or the place we are born,
I was at some of those later 70 shows, again I have great LZ and Stones photos up in the attic.
'The Next Day' will be his highest charting album in the US. Guaranteed at least #2. 'Station to Station' at #3 if his highest. Amazing he hasn't had a #1 yet.
Next Day might get #1 though.
That is exactly why. The music and production feel fresh and vital to me, though I will agree that it is a step down vocally from Heathen. Stars Are Out Tonight, while a great song in many ways, feels a little lost from a vocal perspective.
If he gets beat out by the new Bon Jovi, someone is going to pay dearly.
