^ but then there's the argument that with the way it is set up now, every game means something. It's like a playoff game every week, whereas if there was a playoff system, a lá NFL, a team could sneak in and win it all, thus rendering the regular season less meaningful than it presently is.

There's pros and cons for every system. Nothing is perfect I guess.

Except for the fact that the top teams from different conferences never play each other.

The lesson the BCS teaches is that if you're a major-conference team, you should try to play as weak a schedule as possible, and if you're a mid-major team, you're screwed no matter what you do.

All I'll say is welcome out to So Cal for the Rose Bowl to the Fightin' Illini!! My father's alma mater...so I root for them in his absence...nice honor for them(although I think I know how it'll turn out). But hey! they did beat the Buckeyes..he he

I can't wait to see the spread for this game.

Just thought you were so confident that tOSU would lose by 5 to 6 touchdowns that you would like to take the bet?

I'm not trying to be a prick, but tOSU plays one bad game (41-14) in years and now they can't play at all? I don't get it?

Who, in your mind, do you think should be playing for the MNC?

Also, I do respect your sports knowledge but not sure where you're coming from regarding tOSU.
This is where I'm coming from:

Sep 01 Youngstown St. won (38-6)
Sep 08 Akron Won (20 - 2)
Sep 15 @ Washington Won (33 - 14)
Sep 22 Northwestern Won (58 - 7)
Sep 29 @ Minnesota Won (30 - 7)
Oct 06 @ Purdue Won (23 - 7)
Oct 13 Kent State Won (48 - 3)
Oct 20 Michigan State Won (24 - 17)
Oct 27 @ Penn State Won (37 - 17)
Nov 03 Wisconsin Won (38 - 17)
Nov 10 (20)Illinois Lost (21 - 28)
Nov 17 @ Michigan Won (14 - 3)

That schedule is not enough to get a top 10 ranking let alone a title shot.
At season's end you have one ranked opponent, and you lost that game.
You non league games are Youngstown St, Akron, Washington and Kent St a 1-AA team, and teams that finished 4-8, 4-9, and 3-9, and only WAS is from a BCS conference.
Combined with the Big 10 being terrible this year, I see LSU stomping tOSU.
Nothing personal my friend, but I don't think a team playing that schedule deserves a shot at the title.

You could have shortened this sentence to :
The lesson is : Be Ohio St, don't be Hawai'i.

Not being Boise State or Utah is also a good idea.

That's honestly what their schedule was??? I knew it was easy, but that's unbelievable. No way they should be in the NC game. :tsk:

On the bright side, they are going to be absolutely annihilated by LSU, who's been playing tough SEC opponents all year. Me likey

ETA: What's the deal with the "t" in front of OSU?

Why would I lay 42 when I'll probably only have to lay 20 or so with my bookie?

Or you could lay a mere 5.5 points on most of the Internet books right now.

Jesus...I might be compelled to make my first real sports bet if the spread stays close to that.

Yes, but then you would slowly turn into a degenerate gambling addict like Hewson and Headache.

"Thee Ohio State University"...its usually said when the starting line-ups are introduced and the guys identify which college they went to...you'd wouldn't have know about that...

Jeez...he wasn't getting upset at you. He was getting upset at whatever windbag came up with the idea of including ye olde English in an acronym.

 Duly noted.

But from now on, I want my username abbreviated in a similar fashion: "tLM" It's only fair.

Which astounds me. As does the opening line of 3, which has quickly shot to 6.
Oklahoma opened at 6.5 and shot to 10.

You're idol this week.
Then 2 of the teams ahead of you proceed to lose, so you figure maybe you move up a spot or possibly 2, and:
