Bill Carter named an honorary citizen of Sarajevo

Bill Carter, the documentarian who made Miss Sarajevo, and the man responsible for the Zoo TV satellite link-ups to the Bosnian War, was named an honorary citizen of Sarajevo today in a ceremony with mayor Alija Behman.

The City of Sarajevo City Council chose Mr. Carter as the esteemed recipient last September, crediting him with "spreading the truth" about what happened during the seige.

Today he celebrated the honor in Sarajevo with his wife and child.

Good old Bill Carter. He was the one who helped ZOO TV become a truly uncomfortable media spectacle. I mean that in a good way. It was always meant to challenge people, and Bono's staunch desire to cover the war in Bosnia might have turned some off, but so what?
