U2 on Conan O'Brien Thursday?

Ed. Note Update -- Rockontv is confirming the appearance with this description: Matthew McConaughey, John Krasinski, musical guest U2.

We've received word from Interference members that U2 will appear or be featured on Thursday's "Late Night with Conan O'Brien." Commercials advertising the show have already hit the airwaves. We are currently digging for more details, so more news as we get it!

For more information on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" go here: http://www.nbc.com/Late_Night_with_Conan_O'Brien/index.shtml

Many thanks to Edgette and everyone else!

Oh U2, you're so much better than Conan.... What's next, MadTV?

What are you talking about?! Conan is awesome! And he's Irish! Why wouldn't U2 be on Conan?

Yeah I saw the promo last night before Jay Leno (now he sucks) and then I rushed online to find something about it and found nothing. Glad to know that I didn't hallucinate when I saw the promo.

Conan rocks!!! I went to a Conan taping on April and (when I called for tickets) was hoping U2 would be in town and make an appearance. This would be the greatest thing since U2 on the Simpsons (which I saw when I was 13 and made me a U2 fan). Conan-U2...I knew this was gonna happen someday!!

By the way, I think "Captain Chef playing 'We Didn't Start the Fire' On the Flute" is the greatest character ever!!!!!

(P.S: U2 is going to singlehandedly save NBC... currently in 4th place... out of 4.)

Conan to Turn Entire Show Over to U2

NEW YORK (AP) - In his 12 years in charge of booking musical guests on Conan O'Brien's "Late Night," Jim Pitt always listed U2 and Johnny Cash as the dream artists he'd tried but never succeeded in getting.

He lost his chance with the late Cash, but the U2 dream is coming true Thursday in a major way.

O'Brien will turn over his entire show to the band, which is in New York for seven sold-out engagements at Madison Square Garden.

"We were able to offer them something to feel enough like an event for them to do the show," Pitt said. "It's basically 'Late Night with Conan O'Brien,' the U2 edition."

The NBC show has never before devoted itself entirely to a musical guest, although it gave major time a few years back to a holiday appearance by bandleader Max Weinberg's other employer, Bruce Springsteen.

O'Brien's a big U2 fan, and made a personal connection by talking at length with Bono during breaks in rehearsals for the band's "Saturday Night Live" appearance last season, Pitt said.

It may be a nervous time for Bono, who is nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize for his work in trying to ease Third World poverty. People who watch the Nobel closely list the lead singer as one of the favorites. The winner is expected to be named Friday.

The band is expected to perform three songs and be interviewed by O'Brien.

Pitt is not pushing for any material in particular.

"When U2 decides they want to come on the show for an hour, you don't get too picky about what they play," he said.

I have always hoped that U2 would be on Conan! They're all Irish, so they could have alot to talk -- and joke -- about togther.

Don't you just love it when U2 "takes over" a show? :hyper:

I always believed that when U2 were to be guest on a show that they'd be the only guest. This is the way it should be done with the greatest band in the world. Now SNL will be really great when U2 host and play on it next time. :D
