Subscription Rates - Value for Money

I just changed the quota for Silver to 5,000 PMs and Gold to 10,000. Hope that helps.

Subscription Rates - Value for Money

One thing that has been very effective is adding a right hand column that contains recent discussions, photos, #hashtag feeds, social media widgets, etc. On most sites when we add these the members don't like it much until they get used to it and then they love it. Here is an announcement...

Subscription Rates - Value for Money

It might help, I don't know. The reality is we have less members checking in on a daily basis. It might not be that they want to be here but things in life change, babies, work, etc. Now social media sites are filling a gap that forums once provided a an outlet for. I don't know the...

Subscription Rates - Value for Money

Since you asked, I'll be open and honest why things are the way they are. I approached Joel a long time ago with the vision of making Interference a community about change, doing good in the world, similar to what Bono evangelizes. I loved the name and it was great to think we could try to...

Forum Mobile Apps for iPhone, iPad and Android Devices!

The company we hired to develop this app hopes to create Blackberry and Windows 7 Mobile apps as well. We cannot give an ETA for those though. Our app (as Sicy highlighted in post #38) should be 100% free. You should not have to pay a thing for it. If you paid, could you please forward your...

    Trouble with the forum?

Each night we backup the database and files of the community. During this backup the server loads increase. This backup is taking place at night around the same time as the reported error messages. I have increased the limit on when the server busy message will show up in hopes that the site...

    Mobile friendly Interference?

bono_212 - The issue with the links is that the app does not know which are internal links and which are external links. So, for now, it's just sending them all to the browser because that's where it thinks links should go. I will pass on your feedback to the developer and see if they can find...

    Trouble with the forum?

Every Friday morning (New York time) we perform some scheduled maintenance. Part of this maintenance is to repair/optimize the database which is kind of similar to defragging your hard drive. To do this we need to close the site. While the site is down we also run various other functions...

    Mobile friendly Interference?

Android App is ready, iPhone App is waiting for Apple approval. Once ready, all you need to do is surf to our site using the browser and it should detect your phone OS (iOS/Apple or Android) and then prompt you to download the FREE app. Those of you with Android phones can get going with this...

    Mobile friendly Interference?

We will be rolling out our own iPhone & Android apps in the near future which will be free (tapatalk requires everyone to pay for their app). Please hang tight...

Some changes to keep us online

Yes, the reason it's an issue now and not in the past is because the server has been crashing due to the load of this website (because of the tour starting). After thinking about things a bit more, I found another solution to the forum jump menu. Premium members can use it but it's hidden for...

    what is "pixel.quantserve.com"?

It's not an ad, it's a statistic program called Quantcast which populates our Quantcast profile located here: interference.com - Quantcast Audience Profile It's uncommon for this to hang pages. Is this a recent occurrence or has it been happening for some time? Have you cleared the cache and...

Some changes to keep us online

Hey everyone, Now that the tour is starting back we need to make some changes so the site will stay online. As many of you know, the search feature built into the forum software is not very good. It's the way the search is designed and leads to what they call "the search of death" which can...

    Site maintenance tonight - 6/16/10

Here is the skinny. In January of this year we switched to a new server admin company. They took the site and put it on a new server and it was great at first. Then the server began to become unreliable and they kept charging an arm and a leg to "fix" the server that should have been working...

    Trouble with the forum?

I changed some configurations so this should not happen again. Each page load will be a tad bit bigger but it's the lesser of two evils considering people have been having issues. For those of you who know about websites, the cascading style sheet was being served from a file through our...

    Trouble with the forum?

It looks like it's not downloading the CSS file which has all the style definitions. This is being served through a Content Delivery Network (CDN) to make it faster for our members who are dispersed all over the world. Sometimes the CDN has to refresh and pull the file from our server. If you...

    Trouble with the forum?

Sorry if my reply was interpreted as not caring, that's 100% not the case. I understand your frustration and share it with you. The server admins did not work over the weekend so they were unable to address the session issue until yesterday. My offering a refund was not intended to sound rude...

    Trouble with the forum?

My apologies about the recent down time. Trust me, I don't want you all to have to experience any down time at all. On the bright side, the site is up well over 99.8% of the time so that's pretty good. If you want a refund, just let me know but the ads will be back ;)

    Notice: Site Maintenance Tonight

We will be doing some work on the servers tonight started around 9:00 pm CST (GMT -6 hours). We will be closing the site down during this work so you will see a site down message while it's going on. The downtime could up to 4-6 hours but we hope it will be much shorter. We apologize in advance...

    Bah Humbug - Site Downtime

Sorry for the downtime today. It appears we had some technical issues that caused some improper page redirecting. It was a bit harder to line up the resources to find and fix the problem as it's the Saturday before Christmas. By mid-day we had our team in place and they worked as fast as...

    Trouble with the forum?

Khanda, Let me know if that happens again. It looks like something to do with DNS since it's showing a totally unrelated domain landing page (as if the domain was not setup). I wonder if it could be something the ISP shows if they can't find a domain?

'Save' sometimes says 'Vote Now' when editing?

Thanks for the screen shot. That is really weird. Let's see if this is an ongoing issue or some random cache thing going on. If others experience this please chime in so we can see how widespread it is... I can then dig deeper once we have more info after a couple weeks.
