Do you think Bono ever performs while intoxicated?

Two words: TV GaGa. Okay, so it was almost 20 years ago, but Bono was clearly a little worse for wear (and on live TV, too!). He completely slurs the introduction to Trip Through Your Wires, and he's staggering around far more than usual. I've always wondered if the reason that he gets someone...

    MERGED->CARDIFF - roof - COBL to start? + Cardiff - The Roof

This came up in another thread recently, and someone said that the roof is going to be closed (thus shutting out the light and making for better sound).

    Cardiff railway station tomorrow night

On my way home through Cardiff Central railway station this evening, I noticed a sign that said that there will be a queueing system in operation after the concert tomorrow night (10.30 was the time given). Just thought I'd mention this, as I know that some people have mentioned in posts that...

MERGED --> I can't find accomodation in Cardiff for the 29th + Cardiff Accomodation

3d - I posted some suggestions over in this thread a while back: http://forum.interference.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=113269&perpage=15&pagenumber=2 I don't know whether or not those places still have any spare rooms, though. It might be worth trying the Future Inns place that I mention in...

    Top of the Pops

I also missed it, but it's on again in the early hours of Sunday morning (2.15am): http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcone/listings/index.shtml?service_id=4223

MERGED--> Cardiff recieved + Twickenham arrived

Oh yeah, it's about a five-minute level walk. Cardiff's a small city, so nothing's too far from anything else! But I wouldn't want you to end up wasting precious time! (The queue for tickets at the CIA on the day that they went on sale was horrendous.)

MERGED--> Cardiff recieved + Twickenham arrived

Those of you having to pick tickets up at the box office might just want to check which box office TM is referring to. I'm only mentioning this because on the day that Cardiff tickets went on sale, we had to queue at the box office of the Cardiff International Arena, which was hopelessly...

MERGED--> Cardiff recieved + Twickenham arrived

My Cardiff tickets (standing) also arrived yesterday. The lack of barcodes should definitely come as good news to those worried about the recent photocopied tickets scam.

    Car - Cardiff

Oh yes, I forgot about it being a weekday. Parking by the Museum/City Hall might be a bit tricky then, as - like Sophia Gardens - it's popular with people who work in town.

    Car - Cardiff

I can't think of any free day-time street parking near the Millennium Stadium. There are some residential areas just across the river, but most of those, in my experience, have residents' parking schemes. There *is* an NCP multi-storey right next to the stadium, on Westgate Street, but it's not...

Where are my UK tickets? MEGATHREAD!

I haven't received my Cardiff tickets yet.

    Will bad stay?

Did the Denver version of Bad have the snippet from Van Morrison's "In the Garden" in it (the 'No guru, no method, no teacher...' bit)? That really made the Glendale version for me. Neil

Joshua Tree on vinyl, better than cd?

I've never really been one to celebrate vinyl over CDs for the sake of it, but I've always thought that the standard CD of The Joshua Tree (I haven't heard the remastered gold disc version) just sounds weak compared to the vinyl. When 'Where the Streets Have No Name' kicks in on vinyl, it really...

    Cardiff

Just had a further thought about hotel rooms in Cardiff. If most places are full, it might be worth trying the new Future Inn (http://www.futureinns.com/uk/home.html). It's not the cheapest of places (I think that rooms are something like £70-£80, but I'm not exactly sure), but it's only just...

    Cardiff

There are lots of B&Bs/hotels on Cathedral Road, which is a short walk (roughly 5 mins) from the stadium. There are too many to name here, but you might try some of the following (I'm just picking things out of the Cardiff phonebook; I can't speak for the quality of the rooms etc.): Abbey...

    Second Cardiff show???

PS: Sorry, moderators - I thought that I was in the Tour section. Could you please move this? Thanks.

    Second Cardiff show???

Did anyone notice the hint of a second Cardiff show in the Sunday Times article (http://www.interference.com/u2117510/index.html)? There's a reference to the band being 'pencilled in' to play there on the Tuesday after the Croke park shows. The existing Cardiff gig is on *Wednesday*, and it...

    'Fire'

Absolutely. We need to start a global mass-media campaign to have the CD of Boy rereleased with the early, rough snippet of 'Fire' that came after 'Shadows and Tall Trees' on the vinyl version. Or does anyone's CD version actually have this? Mine doesn't, and I can't play my vinyl any more. Neil

    cursed opening acts?

Yes! "Where were you hiding when the storm broke?" Ah, I see - you were behind Francis Rossi.

    cursed opening acts?

Utah Saints - Cardiff, 1993: indescribably bad. The Stereo MCs looked like musical geniuses alongside such tripe. Public Enemy - Oakland, 1992: great (and intense) opening act. The Sugarcubes also played, and I seem to remember them getting booed (even though I thought they were okay). The...

    UK tickets available again???

I've just got a message from a friend of mine, saying that he managed to get me two GA tickets for the Cardiff show from Ticketmaster TODAY (16 February). I don't know the full story yet - maybe they're ones that have been freed up by other people having theirs cancelled - but I thought that I'd...

If you had to name your child after a U2 song or album what would it be called?

Well, after this week's ticket fiasco, I'd be tempted to go with a Van Morrison song instead: 'The Great Deception'. But the kid would probably just get bullied at school...

    MERGED-->UK Tickets and Onsale Discussion

It seems that you have no real idea of where the tickets are with Lastminute.com. Okay, you might know the bit of the stadium, but you have no sense of whether or not, say, the four tickets you're buying are together. At least, that's what their website seems to say in the faq section.

anyone trying for tickets in three hours

Thanks fluffy123 - it's really good of you to offer, but four of us had made a 'We all or go together, or no one goes' pact. I'm just hoping that they announce another Cardiff date.
