    Detroit Surprises!

A friend states in her Live Journal that they played "Bad" last night, but I think she just doesn't know her U2 songs that well (damn youth of today -- what's their problem?). Surely she's wrong, right?

So is it "Edge" or "The Edge"... 'tis the question...

It seems to me that they call him The Edge when they aren't addressing him directly, and Edge when they're calling his name, as in, "Yo, Edge, hand me that guitar!" I once actually dined with U2, a very long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, and if memory serves, they all just called him Edge...

    Ever Get In?

Yeah, wasn't that a Mentos ad, and not real life? I know people who've been let in using other methods of payment. Surely there must be roadies out there who actually accept cash??

April 21, Pepsi Center in Denver

Larry was doing lots of singing during Miracle Drug as well; actually, Larry was doing loads of singing last night, which I personally loved, given my permanent fixation on the man. I think the reporter got songs mixed up or something. Bummer about the sound for those of you who said it was...

    (04-21-05)-Denver, Colorado- Setlist

It was full band. Bono goes, "We've only played this song as a band once, so if we screw it up, blame the Edge." Which I thought was pretty funny. :) There was definitely no Zoo Station. And I don't recall hearing even a snippet of Stories for Boys at the end of Vertigo. Have not gone...

    City of Blinding Lights Live

COBL was amazing, but Miracle Drug moved me to tears.

    Will bad stay?

They played Bad tonight in Denver. It kicked. I cried. I'm such a dork.

    (04-20-05)-Denver, Colorado- Setlist

I swear to god someone posted this exact same comment after one of the San Diego shows... or else I'm having full on deja vu. But it's so true -- he was totally jamming out. It was all very exciting. *understatement of the year*

Anbody going to the Denver shows?

I'm going to the Denver shows. The Pepsi Center is steep, so you're better off if your tix are GA or on the lower levels; if not, stay sober or you might tip over. Is that the sort of thing you're wanting to know? Unless someone totally screws it up, the sound should be good; I haven't seen a...

    B-sides appreciation thread

"Sweetest Thing" was my favorite U2 song in high school when it came out on the back of... whatever it was on the back of (I could get up off my chair and check, but that would involve... getting up!). And I still love it (the original, not that crap re-recording for the greatest hits package)...

    Songs nobody likes but you

No one ever seems to care much for "Peace on Earth" but I dig it, a lot. I'm also a big "Red Hill Mining Town" fan, and "Refugee" and "With a Shout," which were mentioned earlier, are also favorites. Alas, I can think of more songs that everyone LOVES to death that I'm not quite so keen on. I...

Which U2 song got you hooked and changed your life forever?

Out of Control. It was in concert in 1982. *sigh* Ahh, youth...

Stay & Staring At The Sun

Ah, thank you -- so that's where I read that. I remember thinking that was what the song was about, and then reading about Bono saying that and feeling vindicated, but couldn't remember where I read it.

    MERGED-->Misheard U2 lyrics...+ The Bono mispronunciation/misinterpretation thread.

At the end of "Stay" I always heard "just the band and the clavier as the winter hits the ground..." Whatever the hell that's supposed to mean. Hehe.

    Most lyrically brillant U2 song?

Agreed. And then there is also this from "Miracle Drug": freedom has a scent like the top of a newborn baby's head... And then there is "Stay" -- the whole song is one of my favorite poems ever.
