RIP Adam Yauch. I'm a big fan of both groups and often wished we'd seen them a little closer i the music universe. I know U2 played one of the Tibetan Freedom concerts in the late 90s, still there's much common ground, and MCA may have been the best bridge-builder among the Beasties for that...

excellent point. i often think of God Part II and The Fly as cut from the same cloth. The sound, lyrical content, themes, and lyrical style are very very similar to one another. And I love them both

Unfortunately I can't read through this entire thread, but thanks for posting the article. I agree that NLOTH is more complex than the last two, and I'm glad that it is. The album may wear better over time than we think. I think they made an extremely poor choice to have Boots as the lead single...
