U2 Unorganized on the Horizon / The U2 Machinery

"It either has to be deliberate, or they had to get it out there earlier than they expected. The plan was either a soft landing on the fairly average single, hard landing on the outstanding album (which would be great, because you can't promote a whole album via an iTunes commercial - you do...

U2 Unorganized on the Horizon / The U2 Machinery

Did the band make the same mistake with releasing Boots as they did with "Pop"? I'm not sure this is worthy of a new thread or if it belongs elsewhere, so I apologize in advance. As much as I enjoyed and still enjoy Pop, I think it is safe to say it was a low point in their career and they had...

Get On Your Boots tanking on itunes?!?!

The fact of the matter is that it is tanking on I-tunes. Rather than shoot the messenger (Perez Hilton), perhaps people should explore why the song is looks like it is going to be a commercial flop. I'm befuddled and a little angry that my favorite band put out such a tuneless, hookless...

    Rate Boots!

Over 50% of posters rate it an 8 or better. That really surprises me. I think many truly love the song, and they tend to be the types that like U2's experimental, "reinventing" side. As for me, I like it less and less with each listen. I just think the thing has nothing of what I value in a...

You've heard GET ON YOUR BOOTS? - Post all thoughts, reviews, discussion HERE Part 4

BonoVox - there is a fuzzy, distorted "bottom end riff" that is played at the beginning of the song (after the drum fill) and repeated several times throughout but yes, much of the guitar work throughout is mainly power/barre chord guitar work (other than the repeating riff and the six-note...

You've heard GET ON YOUR BOOTS? - Post all thoughts, reviews, discussion HERE Part 4

Yenlard, yes, there are power/barre chords in New York, esp the "chorus" (if that's what you call it). Hate that song. I do not think Boots bears any resemblance to New York other than the power chord riffs.

You've heard GET ON YOUR BOOTS? - Post all thoughts, reviews, discussion HERE Part 4

I just don't like it very much. I think it's in the Vertigo/Elevation/New York/Hold Me Thrill Me vein, with power/barre chords and not much melody to speak of. It's also a little like Discotheque in that it really doesn't have much of a chorus. I don't think it will be a timeless song...

Zoomerang, you aren't very bright. Look at Bush's efforts re: Africa vis a vis Martin's.

MERGED-->Bono's stolen notebook returned?!+October lyrics returned

Bono's October lyrics were returned to him in Portland yesterday He was in town to give an AIDS speech, as most here know. He got a call from McGuinness at his hotel, whoi said "somebody wants to see you in the lobby, they've got something you want." Turns out they were the lyrics to October...

Attention! Fan Reaction Article For "Vertigo"

not sure I like it True, it's a short clip. But it seems like it will be a "bar chord" song, in the genre of Elevation and Hold Me Thrill Me. Not my favorite type of U2 song. I like Edge better when he's playing notes (Bad, Walk On, Red Hil Mining Town), using echo, etc. The clip of "All...
