where this crosses the line from "personal drama" to something more is when this BS line is used to actually determine order into the stadium, becoming, essentially, a floating stadium policy, and based on earlier posts, that line status is policed through intimidation, physical threats, and attempts to have people who do not follow the "line leader" rules thrown out of shows.

there, it goes beyond "so in so doesn't like so in so, and they aren't inviting them to the cool kids table", and becomes worthy of call out. These people are authorized by no one to operate the line that gets used in stadium shows where everyone pays for a ticket, then the people who operate this line "sign in" exclude people based on their own relationships, and if that person shows up at the stadium in front and doesn't cede their position for the list that they weren't made privy of, they get bumped, jostled, maybe assaulted in a greater capacity, and/or the complicit line "leaders" will make fake accusations to end that person's night with an escort out of the stadium and maybe more?

That doesn't seem like "personal drama." That seems like something far more insidious. If you are going to use intimidation to maintain this line's order, or even the threat of, you need to afford everyone the right to play by the rules and get their place in line...even if they were mean once.

It is amazing to me that this exists at all...

Just please ignore my posts about the topic from today, re personal drama and the like. The conversation went in a different way than it was intended, and I'd rather not continue down the path of making it a big thing. Thanks.

Just saw a tweet about "march[ing] down to the stadium" and all I could think was

I actually don't mind it all being out in the open. If people want to behave like assholes, they should do so publicly.

The Toronto GA should be hilarious - pouring rain all day and the venue has (again) announced two separate gates will be open to let people onto the floor. So glad I'm going last minute.

After reading all this horse****, I'm glad I'm going "last minute" too. Based on the pic a few above yours, I'm catching the 5:07pm from Burlington GO and should get to Rogers around 6:25pm so if I can get 10-15 peeps deep from any part of the stage, I'll be thrilled. Can't imagine lining up for 12 hours or worse yet a couple days, secret groups, narcissistic personality disorders, etc.

Hell I lined up 3 hours before doors for Soundgarden in January 2013 at Sound Academy in bloody freezing weather and got railed directly in front of Chris Cornell. Pic I took below. 3 hours is pretty much the longest I'll wait for a good spot, lol.

Saw someone somewhere mention the screen is 8K, is that confirmed? 8K source material too (native)?

lol, yeah I was surprised to hear it was 8K but I guess if it's all footage they shot natively it's possible...of all the bands out there doing things for their live shows this is the one I wouldn't put it past.

Have tried to avoid watching anything in the way of footage so it's all new to me on Friday night.

Japan was broadcasting natively in 8K for last summer's olympics, but that's Japan.

4K Broadcast Camera System
The U2 tour also marks the introduction of PRG’s 4K (UHD) Broadcast Camera System as a first for concert touring. The PRG broadcast system, developed and integrated over three months, is a combination of products that can operate in 4K (UHD) and 3G SMPTE Standards. This design philosophy allows concurrent production to operate at the highest level of broadcast standards. The system delivers 60 frames per second (fps) with a UHD resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels.

haha.

Still even at 200ft I expect it's pretty spectacular at 4K.

Re: Philly GA

After some of that FB group drama referenced above, didn't there exist a major shitshow for GA anyway caused by the venue that essentially neutered the line/list process anyway? I wasn't in GA, but was talking with someone who was (and was livid) and they had been one of the ones who were very high up on the list (apparently one of the friday check-in's) and they had stated that the venue divided the line into groups and began letting people in at different times and different places. People with numbers higher than 400 were getting down onto the field before people with far lower numbers. This was according to this individual.....I don't know her, but she said "yeah the venue really screwed us over".

So seems to me (if that info was accurate), just let the venues fuck things up like this and you'll modify the GA fan line practice by default, if you're not a fan of the list.

Again, seems like Philly pretty much castrated the list. If what was said to me was accurate.

Thanks...I'll keep checking.

Does anyone know how far in advance the stadiums have been announcing their GA line up policy? If anyone has any info about Foxboro, I'd appreciate it. I can't seem to find anything, and if they are going to hand out wrist bands, I'd imagine that plan would already be in place. I'm getting anxious.

Can you post here if you learn anything? I literally JUST unexpectedly scored GA tickets. I'll check too and post if I find out anything.

This is all Gillette has posted as far as I can see (on Twitter). I drove down to Gillette yesterday and asked a security guard if they would be issuing wristbands, and he told me that he hadn't heard anything about that and he fully expected people to be lining up for GA all day. But that was one security guard. I'm still watching to see if anything else is announced. If I hear anything I'll post it.

The problem with this is the line keepers didnt get shafted, They got their top of the tree positions. Philly security escorted groups of 100 down the concourse to stairs then let the first 3 groups go down different stairs at the same time. By the time the middle of the first line got to the floor, the first half of groups 2 and 3 had already hit the floor and passed them. So really, #1-40, 101-140, and 201-241 all got spots before #s 50-70 . It could have turned dangerous because once you got so far down the steps, you realized what was happening and started hurrying.

At least you don't need a CC to get in -- so that should help things go faster. My concern is how I'm getting my epi pen into the show -- since they don't allow bag. thanks terrorism and more people sneaking food in.

U2 have been going on stage at 9 or is it 8:45?

Is getting Bono's old man sweat on you really so important that, in a stadium set up, you have to run down stairs in order to be a foot closer to the stage? For fucks sake people

Ask that question to the gal at the top of the tree who caught Bono's backwashed waterbottle and quite literally looked like her head was going to explode

Ah, ok. Those were the details I was missing. Still sounds like a massive fuck up, even though those in positions 1-40 still got where they needed to be. So pretty much all the check-in's and everything were fairly useless for anyone beyond #40? I mean, they were up to roughly #200 before the official line at 7am day of started on site. For people that got 201, which would be showing up at 7am that day getting on the field before 41, which would have been pretty close to a thursday or friday check in, that's a huge kick in the nuts.

?
You can bring stuff in small clear plastic bags.
I'm sure they will allow an epi pen.
Just have it in a clear plastic bag.

Depends on the venue. Philly allowed non-clear bags. My wife brought in a black shoulder bag with all sorts of stuff in there, no clear bags

I'll be carrying my insulin pen with me. In 11 years of having diabetes and having my bag searched, I've never had an issue with it. You should be fine.

I had to bring in some medical stuff into a U2 show in Vancouver in 2015 after I had a surgery. I talked to the head of security when I was waiting in the GA line and he gave me a little pass thing to put on my bag. I'm sure you'll be fine bringing an epipen in, but I think it's worth talking to the head security person if you can or emailing them to let them know.

Others have beat me to the same type of response, but I am thinking ADA requirements would require they either let you in, or give you a dedicated medical type with one at your ready. They might need to see it is sealed in its original packaging, but if the need is severe, and not just in case a swarm of bees attacks you, I would imagine the stadium will have procedures for handling this.

Considering most of the stadiums have simply adopted the NFL policies as their own, this is from the NFL website...

If I have certain items that I need to bring into the stadium for medical reasons and they won't fit in the clear bag, what do I do?

There will be a separate entrance to allow screening of these bags and medically necessary items.

As others have stated, find someone who looks like they're actually supposed to be in charge of something (as opposed to those who like to play dress up and act as defacto line organizers) and ask them ahead of time. It shouldn't be an issue.

Good call everyone. I haven't been to a football game in ages -- last time in stadium was for a U2 show and things obviously have gotten more strict since then sadly.

I always get my epipen in but I have never had to do a clear bag policy -- usually my work bag thing. I'll make it work. I'll bring one in and if they take it away I'll try to suck out the bee venom when they strike me during One Tree Hill.

Clear Bags -- no bigger than a small purse -- that's a fucking snadiwch bag. But I'm probably reading that wrong and it means NON clear bags must be very small, but you can bring in a bigger clear bag.

I have 2 young kids and they make me dumb. I'm too stupid to attend concerts and all the rules. I miss just everyone walking in drunk and the only thing you had to worry about was some asshole throwing up on you in line.

so what's the tip off they are going on? Do they still have the tip off song right before they go like every concert before?

It's GA "line" shenanigan time!

Clerks, you are hilarious! My kid also makes me stupid but at least I don't have to deal with being Honey child to a swarm of bees.

What a buzz kill.

Tell me about it, I was #97 in that line... If I had been four spots later at #101 I would have had my pick of spots, although I did manage to salvage a decent position at the tree stage rail behind Larry so I wasn't too bothered for long.
