I'll go first:

1. I actually kind of like "stand up comedy"

2. I hate "mysterious ways", especially without Edges guitar solo

1. I hate Boots

2. I hate when Bono goes up to a camera and pretends he's gonna bite it or whatever he's trying to do.

Awesome thread, hopefully we don't have any arguing or rude comments. With that said, my opinions that are against what I think is the popular opinion here:

1-I can't stand Wake Up Dead Man and don't like MOFO at all(boarder line hate, I also despise Miami but I don't think its overwhelmingly liked here )
2-I really like Playboy Mansion(its cheesy but intentionally so)
3-I don't like Zooropa at all and it's my second least favorite album
4-I really like Rattle and Hum (Desire, Angel of Harlem and All I Want are 3 of my favorite songs of U2)
5-I really like HTDAAB
6-I really like Song for Someone (might be the least liked song on SOI here)
7-Bono dressing as Macphisto on ZooTV was NOT cool
8-I can't stand Ceaders of Lebenon and don't like Fez being born at all
9-Tango and Cash is a good movie (fun at least)
10- I like a few Nickleback songs(don't like the band as a whole though I also don't dislike them)
11- I love Elevation! (I sing along everytime I hear it)
12- I am a big fan of millennium U2(although It has its cheesy "poppy" moments)
13- Phil Collins No Jacket Required album is AMAZING(not sure what people think of it here but I just wanted to throw that out)

I actually think those are common feelings around here. If not.....I'm with you on both :)

- I like Stand Up (Comedy)

- I REALLY like GOYB (especially live)

(I hope those 2 get played on the I+E tour)

- I believe IRIS (UuUuUuUu  ) and SLEEP LIKE A BABY.... are the worst U2 songs of this millenium

- I hate Cedars of Lebanon

And I've been known around these circles for my unmitigated hatred of Boots... hatred is too weak of a word..... it's like finding a turd in a bunch bowl.... it's like a piece of soggy dog crap wrapped inside a freshly plopped steaming pile of horse manure... u c I have a unreasonably hi hatred of a song that not only made the final cut onto an album but someone said "hey, let's really fuck with them " and release it as a lead single

Lol....okay, that explains it better! I don't share that level of hatred for Boots, so fair enough :)

I once described it as a dead skunk that crawled up another dead skunks ass to die.

I better quit now huh?

I think "is that all" is a worthy addition to October, although it should be earlier on the album, with scarlet closing.

I actually like Grace, Yahweh and cedars of Lebanon.

I wish the Wanderer would have featured Bono instead of Johnny Cash. Nothing against him, but it's a U2 album!!

With all this recent scandal involving Scott Stapp's breakdown, I actually went back and listened to Creed's first 2 albums. It was a good listen, and I remembered why I used to like that band back in high school.

This 100%!

If I pay for a U2 album, I expect to here a member of U2 (Bono really) singing in every song!

I actually like: Yahweh + IALW + Wild Honey + Grace + Miami + Love Rescue Me

I'm not really bothered by: Boots + Stand Up + Elvis Ate America

I don't get all the love for: ASOH + Love Comes Tumbling + Your Blue Room

I usually feel tempted to skip: WGRYWH + Magnificent + Iris

I think 30 Seconds to Mars sounds a lot like U2 and I like it.

:reject:

I fucking love October.

4th of July is one of my favourite U2 songs. Especially so with Promenade leading into it.

Wow! I've never thought of The Wanderer without Johnny Cash, but you guy's are right, what a great song if Bono dis sing it alone, for example the Cash tribute performance.

Elvis Presley and America doesn't deserve to be called a song. It should never have been on TUF. It should never have existed. Someone should have said, "Hey guys, this sucks. Let's put The Three Sunrises on this album instead!" But nooooo, they had to put that stream of consciousness crap on there. Bah humbug!

- You all know how poorly I think of One already.

- Passengers and October are two of U2's five best albums.

- Moment of Surrender gets pretty boring after a while. Sometimes I feel like it just got all the attention because U2 had finally done a long song again.

- Beautiful Day isn't exactly a landmark song. It's competent and pleasant, but nothing more.

- ISHFWILF is the second-worst track on The Joshua Tree after Trip. It has very little replayability or depth. If you've sung along with it once, you've sung along with it a thousand times.

- One Step Closer is one of the best songs on HTDAAB, because U2 actually bothered to think about the atmosphere they were creating rather than churning out some bland tune with unrealistic aspirations of massive airplay on pop radio. A Man and a Woman is also one of the album's better tracks, but I think that opinion has ceased to be controversial around here in recent years.

I enjoy listening to Bomb more than anything pre-JT. I feel dirty just saying it, but I do. Very, very loud.

1) I like every song on NLOTH.
2) I don't like SOI very much.
3) I love OOTS (is that unpopular?).
4) I prefer stadium tours to arena tours.
5) I think that So Cruel isn't particularly amazing.
6) I don't hate Mary J. Blige.

Boy is a classic and among their best works.

Some Days Are Better than Others and Trip Through Your Wires are a treat.

I like most of the songs on HTDAAB that people don't like (Crumbs, AMAAW, All Because of You), but don't like anything on the album enough to listen to it regularly.

NLOTH is mostly great, with MOS ranking in my top 20-30.

SOI blows.

Boy is a classic and among their best works.

I'm willing to go further and say that, as a complete album (taking into account aspects such as sequencing and what other songs were candidates for inclusion), U2 have never topped their debut. Besides the vitality, energy, and urgency of the songs, they absolutely nailed the pacing and the only quibble with the tracklisting is the exclusion of 11 O'clock Tick Tock.

Sometimes I wonder if UF is my favourite U2 album not because of what is on the album itself but because of the whole era of music; compared to Boy, it is not paced as well and they made some massive blunders in terms of what was left off. If some of the amazing b-sides had been put on UF then there would be no doubt in my mind that it is well ahead of Boy, but as it stands Boy shows better judgement. It's the only U2 album where I don't really bother making a custom version. The band may be notorious for not always recognising their best work and leaving off great tracks while including dross, but that problem does not afflict Boy.
