You would do that for the 2nd or 3rd single for an album, but not for the lead single.
You wouldn't do that with album singles at all.
And you would likely mention the words "lead single" in your announcement. Unless you're giving your song out for RED and the single will be out later in the rather massive promo op aka Super Bowl ad. (eta also, why put out the single in mid/late January but wait all the way until June for album?)
June is the new Spring...so Edge and Bono confirm they're not done yet. Throwing out OL and now Invisible sure put them back in the schedule.
Chris Martin helped out with OL ? That would explain the Coldplay comparisons...
There are now rumors out there that the Super Bowl is being delayed due to some technical problems that the new Beats streaming service is experiencing.
The LA Times article which gave album details and had statements from the band said that Invisible would be on the album.
These threads are turning into group therapy sessions FWIW I don't buy June for a second. It'll either be sooner or later. My guess is later. OL/Invisible are songs that they released to remind folks that U2 still exist. By the time June swings by, they'll waltz off to the south of France like always, and this place will descend into another meltdown (Bono lies etc etc). Album will be announced in August. Good ol' predictable U2, eh?
“We got something amazing planned. We can’t really tell you much about it.”
-The Edge
Figure it out yourselves, people. It's not that hard.
Sent from my android cause iphones are for old people
^ An ad/high production value video for (RED) with a new song immediately available? That is amazing, no?
The Golden Globe win is all the U2 news today. no one is talking about Invisible.
I still think the fact that they reacted so quickly with info about the song after the Hangar clips were leaked was deliberate deflection. Now, Ordinary Love back in the spotlight.
as for June, I dunno wtf Bono is going on about
so, I guess I'm still in the "album sooooooon" camp. hope I'm not wrong.
It's kindof odd that out of all the old heads at mags, radio stations and the like that typically get this sort of news and comment straight from Bono in advance of the rest of the world...that out of all these people, the only person who has been given somewhat of a date is Roger Friedman. Just a bit strange when every other band member has been very non-committal when everyone else asks...
Friedman was the first to tell us Spring 2014 too..
It Invisible is for (RED) and the Super Bowl advert costs $4 million, how much money do they think they'll raise from the single, bearing in mind it'll likely be an MP3 release and easy to grab for free? That outlay seems a bit excessive to me for charity promotion.
Maybe they're bundling other goodies with it too, perhaps discounts on (RED) products.
