Rumor: 55 unfinished songs?

The jaded skeptic in me says, "yea, right, these are _____ (some other band with a Bono clone as a singer, lost beach clips from 200X, some fancy editing by someone who's trying to screw with us, etc)," but the fangirl in me says "SQUEEEEEEEEENEWMUSICOMGGGGGGGG!!!!"

Hmmm, which way to go...
 
If they're fake, that's the best god damn Bono impression i've ever heard. What really does it for me is that you can hear that trademark 'shimmer' sound on top of the piano notes. It's a signature u2 sound but it's very subtle and i don't think a copycat would use it (or WOULD they? :hmm: )

Haha, I'd let the fangirl in you go free for now. :) It could be fake, but this strikes me as something that's probably real.

I really strongly think that this is Bono's voice. It sounds way too close to be questionable for me. Furthermore, to me at least, it sounds like how Bono's voice has been quite recently, not in 2004 or 2006 or 2008. Also, I think this is an IEM recording. We've never had IEM beach clips before, which would indicate at least that this isn't some lost part of one of the beach clip tranches we've had in the past. If it isn't IEM, if it's just recorded from outside... there's no beach sound! And for this to just be an elaborate hoax and sound as it does... it would take incredible editing skills, and probably lots of time and money if it's even possible at all. It sounds too much like exactly how I'd expect an early U2 demo to sound to be a hoax, in my opinion. Frankly, I don't think anyone would care enough to invest enormous resources into faking a U2 demo like this.
 
For some reason, I feel like Blue Room originally linked us to the 2008 beach clips. Is my memory completely inventing this?
 
Sorry, misread your post, but I'm pretty sure the beach clips came from various overseas sources

If this is an IEM, and if it IS U2 :wink:, could it be from Anaheim last year 2011? Because I heard U2 (full band but mostly Bono/Edge) do a new song in rehearsal there one day and I have been searching for the recording ever since, with no luck. A friend and I sat outside the stadium listening to this and no one around us seemed to even notice or care! The only other person I have found on this forum to have heard it also is sharebear.
 
:D Okay at last my search is over and I wasn't crazy after all. :hyper: I actually had given up searching for the recording of the unknown song I heard, and I just found it was uploaded in March. It's an IEM. (Probably has nothing to do with this recording posted in this thread, but I had to post this here as I've been mentioning it here a few times ever since last summer. :reject: )

You can hear the unknown song at around 24:40, Bono singing starts around 25ish and drums come in around 27:20.

Also it kind of is on topic with this thread as it's probably an unfinished song. :D
 
Wow, these sound good! But what is the source? I mean these don't sound like they were recorded through walls, in wind, during a soundcheck, etc...

The phaser on the ground track reminds me a little of 'Smile'. :shrug:

I'm not implying these are for the new album or anything like that.

It's from Anaheim soundchecks? Well, then it's still possibly new album stuff. In a way, perhaps it's more encouraging that they were at the gibberish stage a year ago. They could have scrapped it entirely, I suppose, but it's still pretty cool.

Are you talking about the 2 clips from Blue Room? Blue Room didn't say that, I was just asking because it reminded me a little of what I heard in Anaheim, and I'd always thought there must be a recording somewhere. Then I did find an Anaheim rehearsal IEM which I posted. Sorry if it was confusing. Still though, the IEM I posted was supposedly new stuff, maybe...
 
Like I said, what I posted is U2. So they were not "fake". I just did not mean to imply or have it taken seriously that they may be part of any demos that may turn up on the next album. I had the mods delete the links so there is no more "controversy". Sorry, wont post anymore clips, I learned my lesson.

I thought it would be funny and interesting at the same time. Clearly I was wrong! :shrug:

Not a problem, I'm just wondering when and where they are from- to digitize's point, it sounds fairly recent. Sure, they may not be real demos, but it is U2 playing something we haven't head before, so it's still kinda exciting. Now, if it turns out these are from 2002, then yea, disappointing. But it sounds like a recent Bono to me.
