and the pats re-signed tiquan and his fade

Yes, getting there is an accomplishment and the teams celebrate that accomplishment after they win their conference championships. But I don't see how 'celebrating' that you just lost in the super bowl would ever be a good idea. I want a player to act like they care that they just lost. I want players like Antrel Rolle. Yes, he mouths off and he has clashed with the coaches. But, 'at the end of the day' he wants to win and is not happy with anything else. Rolle lost the super bowl with the Cardinals and says he can't even talk about that still. He probably wasn't out laughing and having a good time a couple hours after that game ended.

I mean, what's the suggestion here, that he faked how well he could or couldn't play?

i'm not making that assumption at all.

all i'm saying is that if i were a fan, or even better, if i was a coach or a player and a teammate was spotted discoing the night away like a jackass immediately after losing the biggest game of the year in stomach punch fashion, i'd be a tad pissed off about it.

publicly i'd probably say the right things if asked... everyone blows off steam in their own way, that whole jazz. but inside, i'd be furious at the guy.

as for the injury? yea, it's a tad odd to see a guy who couldn't run a few hours earlier jumping around like a moron... but i'm sure the beer muscles, or whatever else he might have been on, had taken over by that point.

i miss football already :( each time i'd flip on the radio, they were talking about kobe.

Who truly gives a shit...it was after the game, his life goes on and he can do whatever he wants so long as its legal...its not like he was doing this the night before the game and it affected his play, we're not talking Eugene Robinson here.
And as for the ankle, he said he was fine running straight, it was cutting where he had problems, and his fabulous dance moves don't seem to require much cutting.

I think it's a good lesson that everyone handles defeat differently. On a much smaller scale, I remember losing a very important tennis match in high school and shaking it off rather quickly and then having a fun night afterwards. Now I obviously didn't have any big fans, lol, but if I did I would imagine that they would have been less than pleased seeing me have a great time at a party a couple hours later....especially if they were as big of fan of me that they were of a pro football team. For me, partying was the only way to shake it off. Much better than moping around at home.

I guess I don't really care that much, but it looks bad. Really bad. If you want to find some way to take your mind off things, that's fine and understandable. But visably partying like a frat boy RIGHT AFTER you shit the bed in front of the world is just stupid. Gronk might be a hell of a player, but he's a first class douche and not particularly bright.

I meant more the collective team performance, but it's not like he really pulled his weight. 26 yards and blowing a jump ball against a linebacker sure wasn't pretty.

Realistically, it's the responsibility of Belichick to bench Gronkowski if he feels he's a liability. Had he been benched and this video surfaced, I feel like he would have looked much worse. There's a chain of command here, and in light of that, saying he "didn't pull his weight" here is off the mark. He was physically limited, asked to play, performed as if he were physically limited and subsequently partied within his limitations. Who gives a fuck?

Why the hell isn't it April already?

I know that Gronkowski wasn't 100% and perhaps shouldn't have even played, but I'm thinking in terms of what my response would have been had that happened with a player I'm a fan of. If the Packers lost the Super Bowl, and then I saw video of Rodgers or Matthews out partying that same night, I'd be majorly pissed. It sends a strong message that you don't give a shit about the team or the fans as long as you can party and get laid after the game is over.

I just can't agree with this. I watched the game. Gronk seemed to me to being doing the best he could do given the circumstances. I already hold him in pretty high esteem (after all, he was a major winner for me in fantasy football  ) and it's really not negated in the slightest given this situation.

I'm not saying that's the reality. Maybe this is Gronk's coping method. I know that if the guy was a complete slouch, we wouldn't have had the spectacular year he did. But it's all about the perception, and it just doesn't look right at all. At the very least, the guy could have held off on partying immediately after the loss. Like I said, if I was a NE fan, I'd be livid. As they say, perception is a bitch. Bears fans were burning Cutler jerseys outside of Soldier Field last year because Jay gave the faintest impression that he quit and didn't care.

Not quite. After he left the game, ostensibly due to injury, his body language had this 'I don't care' vibe to it. That may be the furthest thing from the truth, but that perception of him became reality.
