Northern light must be so pretty. Never seen it before. But its on my list.

It's supposed to feel like autumn here this weekend. I'm ever so thankful as I have a half marathon Sunday.

Sharon! We'll be running at the same time! So, think of me when you cross the finish line. I'll still have 7 miles to run.

Woo! :cheer: I'll probably finish between 10:30 - 10:45 PST, depending on how well I feel that day. I have no clue how good I'll do - it probably won't be anything spectacular. The forecast has now changed to showers for that day. As long as it's not super chilly, that will be fine. I like running on cloudy/grey days, so fingers crossed the weather will cooperate. :)

woke up last night cause was so bright that thought neighbouring house was on fire and walked to window and just went WOW

brightest northern lights I´ve seen this year, thought fuck it, just closed curtains, and went back to bed lol

trying to film some this night tho, clear sky

Cool! I think I've seen slight glimpses of them, but obviously nothing as good as what you get. :)

amazing to be just closing the curtains and going back to sleep

love diamond-clear night skies!

hmm, Nasa website says that theres been a solar flare few days ago, so keep an eye on skies after it gets dark

was wondering how they looked so bright, felt like in a disco on late 80´s

I'm hoping to finish 2:30 EDT or 11:30 your time. But since I've done nil to prepare, that might be a lofty goal.

me too!

My mom and her growing up family along with any
other lucky NYC'rs back in the ? 1940's had the very
unusual fortunate experience of seeing the
Northern Lights from their rooftops (tar beach) one
hot summer night!

She said- first some clouds seemed to be changing colors,
and after a while they got the full Rippling Curtains effect!!!
 near :faint:

ETA

and my dad saw them where he was visiting sales reps in Seattle like 40 yrs ago.

yes i heard there wasa flare but I forgot about the correlation...b/c

they'd have to be a Very Strong field effect to come all the way down to NYC and be seen !

:fingerscrossed:

I don't know of it NASA or USA Weather that has a very cool graphic map
chart looking from above the North Pole showing the ring of NL Activity!

I think I'm not on the right geographical location to see the northern lights. :grumpy:

few years ago few Irish friends were here and we went out and stayed out like few days
and somewhere there they lost track of time, they were so mad and confused when a waitress on local pub told that no more drinks as it´s almost 3:30, they replied, why the hell are you closing a beergarden and a pub @3:30 cause ppl are just coming from work ect and the weather is nice and sun is shining

waitress just looked at em and said: I think you´re not from here, but just FYI it´s 3:30 am so go to bed, I was laughing soooo much

those mates were just like, wth is going on here, they totally forgat bout the midnight sun :D

General Instruction for site I linked

To determine if the aurora will be visible from your area, follow these steps for using the auroral forecast website.
Step 1. Choose a view.
On the left hand side of the website is a choice of 5 different maps to display the prediction of the nighttime aurora. Click on the map that best shows your location.
Step 2. Check the activity necessary for your area.
After you have selected your map, visit the Interpreting the Forecast page. You will see your map displayed for each of the 10 forecast levels (0 to 9). Find the levels where your location is inside the green line. For example, on the North America map, Chicago requires a 3 to see the aurora on the northern horizon and at least a 5 to see it overhead.
Step 3. Check activity for the day of interest.
Check the main forecast for the day of interest. If your location is within the green line on the equatorward side of the green and white band around the pole, you should plan on aurora watching that night.
Step 4. Check the short-term forecast.
To see if the aurora will be visible from your location within the next hour, look at the "short term forecast" on the right hand side of the display. This is a continually updated forecast, based on an actual satellite measurement, so if it shows an index 5 and you are in Seattle, Chicago, New York City, Halifax or anywhere under the green and white band, then there is aurora overhead. If the sun is down, you should go outside, away from city lights with a view of the poleward horizon, and look for it. It will be most active between 10 pm and 2 am.

As often as I'm online, JJ, McAfee is better with its Internet Security Suite.

*is online 99% of the day* :reject:

But, yea. Virus scanner is no problem. The computer is the problem. I don't like it. It sucks.

I want my old one back.
