Nice!

U2 Feedback > Your Blue Room > Everything You Know Is Wrong > Where The Album Has No Name > No Album on the Horizon 2: Bouncier, More Fun Sounding

did a search for my posts in that thread. :shifty:

Was a little too eager to put the album into context with the rest of their work, but nothing too embarrassing.

God, I miss leak puns.
That's probably a sign that you're going insane.

So do I.

Or just change "WTAHNN" to "No Album On The Horizon." It'd certainly reflect the mood around here...

Hopeful for late 2012 at this point since they supposedly have so much leftover material from NLOTH, SOA, Danger Mouse, etc. and based on their age, you just can't have 4 year gaps any longer. 360 was long, but I don't sense the band is exhausted and had a good break with Bono's back issue last year so I could see arenas in 2013. I really don't think a new album will hold up anything, I think we could see a hold up with just getting a new tour concept together bc everything they do is groundbreaking. Should be interesting, a pretty quiet couple of months then the AB/Zooropa remaster and I'm guessing studio work Spring of next year to hopefully polish instead of re-work or truly start again.

take a picture everyone. This is what you will look like when you all hate it in 5 years!

Dan Smee was prophetic

Haha, common Steve, that isn't prophetic, it was as predictable as things come. U2 could produce the best album ever, but it "isn't 80's U2, or isn't 90's U2 or isn't everything to everyone blah blah blah"

They still make wonderful music in a time when music doesn't know what it is. Comparing music accross time doesn't work, and it appears to me that U2's biggest failing is that they, in fact, cannot go back in time

edit: though lord knows they tried with that whole "360" blip, building that spaceship and all...

is your 1000000000 mikes still up? i wanna go post some random shit there this weekend
It's still there

Were you vagenda denta or whatever it was?

I find something to like about every album and No Line was no different. Aside from SUC I pretty much love the entire album. I don't know why Boots gets such a bad rap.. it was a fun little song.. I'm definitely looking forward to what they do with DangerMouse.

So for the next album are we going to have people who say it doesn't live up to 00s U2?

Any new news in the last couple months? I've been out of the loop.

after Glastonbury Bono was featured in an interview for Q. In it, he's still referring to the next album as being "Songs of Ascent"

sounds like they're keeping the title

Just to add for those who don't know. They have an album's worth of melodies but with no bass, drums or guitar yet.

Lots of work still left to be done.

U2 wanted to create a 'black album' (prince). So they have something to please the fans and their wallets when they're gone.
My guess, songs of ascent won't see the light of day in the first 10 years...
So long Every breaking wave, Mercy and North star.

Maybe the've heard about the internet these days. It's possible to release tracks digitally in full quality..... There are fans, me among them, who wants to pay for that....:sexywink:

I've been thinking alot about why U2 doesn't release a non-commercial album online and the only reason I can think of is that it will be used to humiliate them. Let's say they put out SOA online. Without a big single or a tour, I bet it would only sell about 300,000 copies, tops. Maybe even half that. The mainstream media will write about "U2s online flop."
