I am in Montreal slowly getting home with very sore legs. It was great and the crowd was just massive. More than Montreal, it was a biblical crowd. There was errors by event planning but the band played a loose comedic show that was almost like a rehersal.

For those of you that didnt go, it was a lot of effort for that show, the rain was shitty and the mud threw out of a few knees. Leaving the stadium was somthing Ill never forget.

Again, sorry to Kevin for the clusterfuck.

Vic (the guy who started the line) manhandled a girl

I must say at first I was impressed by Vic, he worked very hard to make sure the line was organized....until I saw him put his hands on and push a girl because she got to his spot before him.

As we entered the field from one side (Adam's side) most people accessed the inner circle from the right side except very few people. One of them, who was waiting in line all day, got to front row center right in front of Bono before anyone else. Few seconds later, Vic and his posse arrived and Vic was visibly UPSET that there was someone else in his spot (remember he's number one, so he figured that the spot belonged to him). He then proceeded to physically remove her from the spot. When security got involved, he claimed that she was never in line. The girl did not speak very well English she started crying. Luckily I had taken a picture of the line much earlier in the day and she was in it. I showed it to securiy but it was too late because Vic and friends claimed "their" spots.

I am very disgusted by Vic. you claim to be a U2 fan but yet you put your hands on a girl because she was smarter than you and figured out a way to get to a spot before you!!!!

Shame on you!!! What goes around comes around. Next time around it will be guy in "your" spot and I can't wait to see how you will handle that.....

Hi everyone this is vik, I don't normally do the whole blog thing, but I saw this thread and wanted to reply.
Saturday was a tough day for all the fans in the Que..the weather was really bad and the surface on Moncton hill was very wet. To avoid fans running and causing injury to themselves and fellow fans, we worked with local and U2 security to make sure fans were walked in to the pit area.
It would have been very easy for us at the front of the que to run, but we didn't and we tried our level best to make sure everyone respected the walking in line.
Yes i did move the young lady out of the way and it's not something i'm proud of, but she spread herself to try and save more spaces..which i know a lot of people do. But it upset a number of us.
The U2 world is a very small one..i checked in at Moncton airport yesterday..and I sat down in front of 3 fans from France. To my shock one of the fans was the young lady I had pushed aside..she was there with her partner and a friend waiting to fly back home to France.
Yes i have to admit the conversation was a tough one..and we spent time talking through what had happened..she explained that she'd left the line and run around from Edge's side. I explained that we all could have done that..but we walked in to avoid any running and injury and to respect the line. In fact I met these fans in the show and Montreal and we'd had a great show..her partner like me loved to go crazy during the show.
We spent 2 hours sitting in the airport yesterday..and we both agreed that we could have handled things better..I'd made a decision to stay at the venue and help with the que management, to try and help the fan experience. I know everyone has different opinions on the que systems in North America, but i was only trying to follow the protocol followed at other shows in NA.
Anyway shared a coffee with the young lady in question and her partner and I apologized for what had happened on Saturday. Having spent 6 days in the que (my choice i know) my head was probably not in a great place, I'll not use that as an excuse. The young lady was very understanding and has forgiven me...we shared our U2 experience on 360 and I'm very happy that I had this opportunity to meet her again. She and her partner also understood part of my reaction.
Hopefully those of you will find it in your hearts to forgive me as well, i hope those who did que in line at Moncton could see that I was only trying to help the fellow U2 fans and make their experience better on a very difficult day with the terrible weather.

And on a final note, I totally agree just because you are number 1 or 2 in the que..does not give you a god given right to be in front of Bono or any of the band. And being number 1 or 2 in the que does not make you a bigger fan than anyone else..whether Moncton was your 50th show on the tour or your 1st show..we are all U2 fans and we love the band with the same level of intensity.
Love and peace to the U2 fan community
vik

Hi Sara
Nice to hear from you. Hope you make it home safe. I arrived back in London this afternoon. The next few days will be a tough one for a lot of the U2 fans..life without 360 is never going to be quite the same for us all. Has been an amazing experience and have met so many wonderful fans on the tour

Hi JJAsi
Nice to hear from you, I thought it important to put down what had happened and as I said I was very lucky and fortunate to meet the fans from France in Moncton airport.
I would have hated for there to be any bad feelings.
take care
vik
p.s. and if ever we meet in the future I promise you can punch me if it helps :)), just kidding

We sort of met, Vik. I can only hope that the next tour, cooler heads prevail. I know to have the recognition with the band because you are there night after night can be amazing. And yes, those who have seen 10+ shows might have sacrificed to travel. For some of us, it's not easy or feasible to follow them for multiple shows as much as we wish we could. Some of us get a few shows, can only get in the day before - but are willing to sit in line, in all conditions for a chance to get close to the music we love so much. So perhaps for the next round, we are a little more charitable. If you have had the opportunity for front rail 6 times, maybe be charitable to the person who has never had it. It's their one shot of glory. This seems to be U2's message.

That being said, the rain seemed to keep away most line crashers. That was nice. The downside - my running shoes have been offered up to the Claw gods.

Nice to hear from you Grace. and I agree with your thoughts :)
I was lucky I had to take time off from work..but I would have loved to have done more shows..but could not. Circumstances change for us all..and I'm very very grateful to have seen the shows I could :)

Very well said!!:applaud:

I am happy Vik made peace with the fan he had pushed the night before. And I don't want to keep renting about this, but a man putting his hands on a woman is not easily forgiven in my book. But really, if someone is there before you, no need to push them away, if someone is holding spots for a friend, WHO CARES!! I have been to 15 shows on this tour and met some wonderful people but also met some awful people just for to get a good spot..So what if Bono doesn't recognize you every single time..If we are U2 fans, let's follow their message and restrain from assaulting others wether physically or verbally. That same fan who Vik pushed ended up with a used microphone (maybe Bono's) after one of the U2 management found out about the incident. That to me was her glorious moment.

Yes the young lady did mention she'd got the microphone which was great and I was happy for her :)
I would just like to say one thing..female fans can be just as bad as the guys..and I've heard plenty of stories of girls behaving very badly. But that is not a justification for my behaviour..I just want to say bad behaviour takes place bu both male and females.

You're absolutely right, I've had my run ins with bad female attendees (I won't use the word fans). My previous comment was not agains men by any means. I attended most of these concerts with male friends. My frustration and anger is against anyone getting physical with someone else. I do, however, get more upset when a man gets physical with a woman especially (as you well know) when the female is barely 5 feet tall.

Again, this is not to bash men...this is to bash men who use physical and verbal force against women.

I'll tell you one thing, if you did that to me at the concert, you would not have been able to watch the concert at all...so a word of advice, be careful who you decide to use force on....but I'm hoping that the next time, you would be more cool headed.

I have learnt a lesson and yes i will handle the situation in a better way. And thank you for letting me know..i don't like to upset fellow U2 fans

I admire him for admitting he made a mistake and taking the time to say sorry. Let's focus on the tour!

Yeah exactly!

This was my 3rd 360 show, first one inside of the circle. Didn't realize that it was so political in there. Just in terms of people with a sense of entitlement and such.

That being said, the group of fans (I'm guessing a bunch of them were from Boston) against the rail right in front of me were a blast. Loved their signs and also thought it was a nice gesture when they gave my friend and I some glow sticks to join in on their dance party during I'll Go Crazy.

You must have not been too far from me. Where you almost in front of Adam? I saw some people on the rail with glow sticks. I wore my sign on my chest. Not sure if it was seen or not. Fans got a kick out of it.

I read this a couple of hours ago, and shook my head and walked away from my computer, but I can't stop thinking about it. When you're at the point where you assault another fan because they took your spot (insert giant eyeroll here), you seriously need to step back and get some perspective. I don't care if you hugged it out in an airport after or not. Shit like this gives normal fans a bad name.
