I made a comment on Facebook about the flipping-off picture, and one of my other U2 fan friends was appalled. "Maybe he used to think it was cool, but at his age ..."

What, once you turn 50 you can't flip people off? This is news to me.

I'd better make the most out of my next 13 years.

Since he did it at both shows now, I thought it's just probably part of his new, I'm back and bad-ass Bono image as he takes the stage. :hmm:

I have to admit, I was a little disappointed to see that he did it at both shows. I prefer my flipping off spontaneous, not scripted.

Yeah the first time I was trying to figure out if the people in the audience had done something, or had a sign that said something prompting him to do it, so the second time was like Ahhh ok I get it now. Maybe the first time was spontaneous, but he liked the reaction he got here :shifty: and did it again. :hmm:

I assumed if he was actually pissed off, he'd give them the two-fingered salute, not the American version.

 What - I've only got 11 years left?? :panic:

Actually, IMHO, the FB poster doesn't know what the Hell they're talking about. Plenty of people get more pissed off the older they get - ever heard of a little something called "grumpy old geezer"???? That'll be me... and Bono. :hi5:

She said "I'm actually a little disappointed in him. That's kind of rude."

I refrained from replying with a giant L O L.

Some people are just too uptight. We know Bono likes the *f* and we also know he has a stage persona - not, that stage persona includes an intro with giving a lucky audience member a finger. I'd laugh if he gave me the finger... :applaud:

"Disappointed"??? He didn't pick his nose from the catwalk & flick it on somebody. He playfully flipped the (American) bird at someone.

What's your friend... a Puritan???

I don't know. I "met" her at the Zoo Station gig in Seattle last June. She sent me a friend request because I'd met a mutual friend of hers at the show. I swear I never talked to her at the show, but was probably dancing right next to her the whole night.

She seems nice, and it's nice to know there's fellow U2 fans around here, but she's one of those Facebook people who drive you a little crazy.

That was the one of the best things about the video from the first night, how thrilled the people in the audience were who got the finger. You can see the guy and especially the girl go crazy after he did it.

There is an age when you have to stop flipping people off?

I think that picture is awesome, hell it's my facebook picture right now, and a few of my other U2 friends have it as theirs.
That person just sounds whiny.

Now, more Bono in leather pictures later today!! The entire band just needs to wear leather :)

Thanks for all of the replies. I was hoping someone actually ticked him off and he flipped them the bird. Not a part of each show. It will grow tiresome.

I found lots of beautifully taken pictures here:

I hope she never attends a Motley Crue or 30 Seconds To Mars show, or Black Eyed Peas for that matter!

When they opened for U2 I kept thinking "Geez, Will.i.am, my SON is in the audience!"

I've been a part-time Edge girl for a bunch of years...:D

it started when i having lost most of my acess to cable TVand not having a DVD player , nor even a VCR for a long time...I never got to see most of the AB vids. Not until i partly was able to get on the net more semi-consistantly and saw the ???A/B Montage Vid here.

it's the one where Larry sez something like --Achtung > is that a word/or that's not even a word/ what does THAT mean....
Anyway besides TheFly in all his glory..there was Edge from ?WGRYWH .... and i was like.....oh!woah!

then a few short months/ a year or so later i caught THAT Edge gif (taken from The Fly)....
:ohmy::drool::drool: i was hooked! i already loved his musical talents and his partial activism....

AB Edge

Yes that gif is...hypnotizing...:shifty:
