Growing up in the 80's, it was tough to like Boss George. He was constantly firing managers, trading for bad players and treating his top guys poorly. Especially, my favorite Yankee during the 1980's, Dave Winfield. Big Dave was his highest paid player at the time and was usually a target for George's wrath if the team wasn't doing well. Thankfully, George was finally suspended from MLB for paying a dude lots of money to dig up dirt on Big Dave. When he was suspended from the team, it was the best thing that could have happened to the Yanks. George wouldn't be around to meddle in the baseball side of things and let his baseball people do their jobs. The rest, of course, is history.

Despite his mistakes in the late 1970's and throughout the 1980's, George was a good owner. He always got his team on the back page and did what he could to put a competitive team on the field.

The Red Sox will apparently observe a moment of silence for Big Stein before Thursday's game.

Nice to see Big Papi win the derby, and the shout out to Lima Time was pretty cool.

Jesus, I guess somehow I had blocked Billy Martin from my mind--probably from his unceremonious death.

Ubaldo's got a tough task ahead of him.

I wonder who is singing the anthem. I hope it's some fine piece.
