Great pictures everyone!

My preferred medium is 35mm film. Nothing against digital but I feel more connected with it as I work.

Here's one I took with the same Canon K2 I've used for years. I'm surprised it's lasted this long.Printed on Ilford FB.

My photogenic cat :)

Nice pic, Outsider!

I'm curious though; what do you mean by 'feel more connected with it' as it relates to film? Where do you feel the disconnect with digital?

Hi and thanks!

I suppose what I mean is that with film I have an X amount of frames so I'm forced to take my time and compose a shot because I don't want to let it go to waste. Developing and printing my own film does give me different feeling than working on Photoshop or sending it to a lab. If any of that made sense...
With digital, I know I have tons of memory and for some reason I know I can always retake it instantly. I know digital photography has done marvels for the industry and in tons of fields. But as far as connections go, film has my heart

I completely understand what you're saying, Outsider. I felt the same way for a long time and would probably still use my Pentax K1000 if I hadn't dropped it in the Dublin airport & damaged my fave lens . After that trip though, I decided that digital was the way to go - no more wondering if I got the shot right, no more paying good money for prints only to find that half of them were crap. Now, I take a shot & if there's any question whatsoever, I can check the playback & either reshoot or move on.

It's not as intimate a relationship as I'd like, but I don't waste as much time, effort & money as I used to, either. :reject:

Well if I had my way, I'd shoot 4x5 transparency all the time, so I know where you're coming from :) That being said, you can always train yourself not to treat digital like a perpetual Polaroid. But if you're still able to shoot film and have a place to develop it, I see no reason not to. I still plan on installing a darkroom when I buy my first house

Took a few of the pre-storm yellow sky here tonight. The first two are untouched, other than a bit of noise reduction, and the third has some filters run on it.

Help me, fellow photogeeks.

I'm getting sick and tired of my 24-70mm. It can do a lot of things, but it excels at nothing.

Should I sell it and buy some manual focus Zeiss primes for my 5D II?
(also considering the Voigtländer SL II series - they have a 40mm f/2 pancake lens that really looks awesome)

And that's some great architecture shots there Blurmgirl.

And Outsider shows us why film b/w still trumps digital.

Some good stuff in this thread.

Primes are key if you want a really crisp image. I know few professionals that use zooms. That said, it all depends on what you're shooting. If you're shooting in a less controlled environment more often than not, maybe you'll miss your zoom

Really? The shots you've posted with it look sharp - love my 24-70. It costs about as much as the Canon L primes. The 24 mm TS-E looks awesome - real expensive though. Zeiss sounds good, but I'd keep a AF lens.

Saw this review a few weeks ago (Zeiss with 5D2);

Cool man. I saw that video posted on aphotoeditor.com (a great site if you're at all interested in the commercial side of things, but probably more boring than a dogs ass if you arent). About half the guys I work with shoot on Phase (all of the product guys and a good chunk of the portrait guys). The image quality right out of camera is stunning. Its not only the resolution, but the colour gradients and tones just look really professional even before any sort of post. Its hard to put your finger on, but theres just a quality about the files thats really nice. I just wish they werent so expensive :(

Nice Thailand Photos Stammer. Really like the first one.

I finally found my first ever picture taken when I started to get interested in photography. Shot in film with the camera I bought for my mom as a birthday gift when I worked at circuit city. It shot panorama photographs.

We went camping this weekend at Sleeping Bear. For all I rag on Michigan, I would really miss this landscape if I moved. Lake Michigan is one of the two things I really do love about Michigan, especially "up north", it is so blue and clean, and best of all there is no salt, sharks, or jelly fish (undertow and riptides yes, unfortunately). This pics aren't artistic or anything, just something to share.

These are all from Esch Road Beach and Otter Creek (flows into Lake MI at Esch Rd). This is my absolute favorite of all beaches I've been to, including some supposedly fabulous beaches along Lake MI, Florida, Alabama, Hawaii, and Tanzania. The water here both in the lake and the creek is so clear and clean. Every time we go here I can't believe how clean it is and how few people are there. I think it's the best secret of the Sleeping Bear lakeshore.

The dune overlook at Pierce Stocking. I always laugh at the "dunes" parks I've been to in other states. In Michigan a "dune" is a solid wall of sand, several hundred feet high.

This is a washed out pic but the wall of sand on the left is where we are standing above.

I'm not much of a photojournalist or street photographer, but heres a shot of the G20 protest insanity on the streets of downtown Toronto today. both are police cars

Sitting here marathoning Fringe, trying to catch up while going through some photos. I don't think I ever posted these here, so just for fun, a few of my daughters shots from The Rose Bowl. These were my favorites.

What I love about the Rose Bowl shots is the colors! The lighting design was really beautiful. I love the sea of red lit faces in the backgrounds. It was quite surreal!

This one wasn't meant to be out of focus, but for some reason turns out to be my favorite one of all. (from Vegas)

And my favorite of her photos from Green Day last year. Billie Joe in a storm of confetti. Again one of my favorite aspects are the faces in the crowd. It's kinda of spooky in this one.

I was at Vegas too  seems like so long ago.

Looks like we were on opposite sides of the stadium.
