Pearl Jam Discussion Thread

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

Hartford might be a nightmare as well, a Saturday show 2 hour drive from Boston or NYC.

Ouch, you're right, the Saturday factor alone. :yikes: I probably would have tried for Hartford if I didn't already have plans to be in Miami that weekend.

I'm just happy I'm going to Cleveland!!

I missed the shows in the fall due to no vacation time left after the U2 shows.

but.it's.pearl.jam.dude. don't you get it??

Anyway - 2 tix for buffalo, done and done. Pearl Jam factor be damned, I'm not happy to be going there.

I saw U2 in Hartford. I am not sure if the Pearl Jam factor or U2 factor brought me there. Regardless, overall, it was not a fun trip but I love the band so there you have it.

Ruffalo, nice, at least it's not during the winter. I guess.

I don't think PJ are playing anywhere near me, unless I missed it. Which is possible.

Which tour?

Elevation.

It was a great coincidence, really.

As you know, I have a lot of family up in New England. So, I was on vacation from my job in LA and instead of flying right to NYC I went to Nashua for 2 days to stay with my Aunt and Uncle. My parents came up as well, and the plan was to drive back with them to NY. Well, the day we were scheduled to drive back was the same day U2 were playing in Hartford in the arena in that fucking mall that needs(ed?) to be condemned. Also, a close friend from NYC was attending that show with his wife. So, I called him and told him to tell his wife she was not going (the wife was not a big fan and more than happy to not go) and that I'd meet him in Hartford and I'd just drive back to the city with him. So my parents dropped me off at that Mall at like 11am, I killed a few hours making small talk with the people lined up already/reading, he arrived, we had dinner and watched the show.

I guess I could have just left it as "Elevation" but I could not help myself. :)

Actually I'm glad you told the entire story. Fairly cool tale.
I saw then at that mall 3 times, twice on the Unforgettable Fire Tour and once on Joshua Tree tour. (Last time I was in the building, that will change now on May 15).

I've seen 2 shows of theirs in NE...the aforementioned show and the Popmart show at Foxboro where they played "Rain" at the end.

Still hoping some West Coast PJ dates are added soon.

I was at that one.

Only time I saw them in the Greater Metropolitan area was at the Amnesty International concert at Giants Stadium in 1986.

Phanan was there, Lazarus was there, etc.

I've seen them at just about every possible NY metro area venue:

Brendan Byrne, Nassau Coliseum, Giants Stadium, MSG, Yankee Stadium....

Got my Boston tickets! :hyper::hyper::hyper:

I haven't seen PJ since 2003 and this will be the first time I get to see them with my sister.

Wow, I thought U2 fans bitched and moaned, but I have to hand it to the PJ fans on the pit.

I've gotten a lot of laughs reading the posts over there these last few days.

OK, I'm in for the Friday NYC show on the general sale - Sec 331, which at least is close lengthwise if high height wise. I've gotten used to not great seats not being part of the 10 Club...so hey. :)

first day back in my office since the pre-sale... i took off st. patrick's day and then the rest of the week for recovery time.

anyhoo...

i finally was able to get my CC information to go thru for friday's show via the 10c, so that at least made me not shit a brick about the entire process.

and was able to secure a pair of 300 level's on friday's ticketmaster pre-sale for thursday's show... not quite what i was hoping for, but i suppose they will do. at least i'm in the building...

will of course now spend the next month and a half scowering the internet for an upgrade.

i will be giving up my mets/yankees ticket at citi field friday night to my gf's brother as a sorta defacto 21st birthday present.

on saturday i'm driving down to philly to see the phillies play the red sox. go ahead, hewson. make your comments...

Ugh, when did PJ tickets get so f'ing expensive? Paying $75 (plus FEES!!!) for GA would be one thing, as I'm not a 10C member that wouldn't happen anyway, but to pay that same price for nosebleeds? With U2, Sting and others this summer I'm going to have to pass on general sale, maybe my parents will give me a ticket for graduation. I gave myself a ticket to their 2006 tour for my high school graduation.

Vs > Ten.

by a long way imo.

i can't, off the top of my head, recall how Oceans, Porch, Garden, Deep or Release go.

Blood and Rats are the only tracks i'm not big on.

I mean, Porch? Seriously? One of the most sing-along, radio-friendly, hymn-like, whatever songs in rock and roll I've ever heard? It's like saying you listened to Who's Next dozen times and can't remember what Won't Get Fooled Again sounds like.

Or say, Behind Blue Eyes in the case of the magnificent Release?

Yeah, I was going to say, not remembering Porch is the biggest crime on that list. If you don't like Porch, you don't like Pearl Jam. Probably a bit of an irrational statement, but seriously...it's one of their signature songs, and flat-out one of their best songs.
