This is just like the U2 by U2 book signing in New York. There was a line of people and someone starting putting numbers people's hands as they waited in line over night. Next morning Barnes and Nobles didn't honor the numbering system and just let the first 100 people in. It is not a fair system, if the line can't start until 6am, then the first person there is the first person in line.

I got there at 10pm tonight, sound check still going on. Big group at loading area but not an organized "line" that I could find, these were all people hoping to catch the guys coming out after soundcheck. Some had wristbands, some didn't. Line Nazi guy Steve (says he is not on u2.com or interference) finally turned up, I got #s 300 and 301. He said he has been talking to security all day and said they will be enforcing his wristband system tomorrow, whatever that means. He said that cops were going to disperse the crowd at 11pm, don't know if that actually happened or not - didn't stay to see the band leave.

So what happens if you have a wristband already but are not there at 6am sharp? Don't know. If someone shows up with wristband #20 at 2pm , I think that's shady. If people are constantly pestering security overnight, that will not bode well for the morning either.

So now I'm going to bed and we'll see how crazy things are in the morning - should be there by 6am or just after. I'm praying Soldier Field changes their usual parking setup since they know so many people will be there super early, maybe they'll allow us to park on site before the afternoon.

So, I got a wristband -- 200-something -- with no idea if they're enforceable or not. I don't expect to get there at 6 am or an insane time like that. I bought GA from a ticket drop Friday and thus have to go to will call, so even if I were first in line, I may not be able to get my tickets until late afternoon, possibly even after the gates open. So much for a fair system.

Meanwhile, I'm still trying to sell some seats for both nights. Anyone? Anyone?

Sorry if this is old news, don't remember seeing this earlier in the thread - specifics about U2 parking on the Soldier Filed website:

http://www.soldierfield.net/docs/Parking_Details.doc

Basics are:
North Parking Garage opens at 5am
South Parking Lot and Waldron Deck open at 3pm
All lots $45
NO OVERNIGHT PARKING ALLOWED - CARS WILL BE TOWED
-------

So for those of us going early in the a.m., can park close if you're willing to cough up the $45. Wish it was clear at what time they start towing though after the Sat p.m. show ends-

Just got back from Hard Rock, it was nice to meet everyone
Good luck to all you Ga-rs tomorrow. I'm kind of glad to have seats this show. Sounds like some drama might brew.

You had the opportunity to come down here and say that to my face, but you chose to stay there and hide behind your computer. Not surprised.

Someone started an unofficial wristband system because there's no camping out allowed at Soldier Field. Who knows if it's legit or not?

sounds stupid, im going to be there at 5 in the morning, im not going to let some person in front of me after spending hours sitting around because they have some stupid wristband.

amen to that. if you get there at 5am and some fool shows up at noon with some scrappy wristband telling you to move, i expect you to laugh heartily in their general direction.

trust me, thats not all id be doing. the wristband thing sounds cheap and very unofficial. there is nothing told on soldier field nor something official on the u2 website. Anyone can go downtown and get some cheap wristband.

im going to be there bright and early.

men can bring backpacks in the stadium right?

I will be there sometime before 6 am on Sunday and you better believe I will not give one once of respect to the wristband system. I will not honor those who are breaking the rules. I am going to show up for the 6 am line up time endorsed by Soldier Field and I don't care if you were there the night before and "claimed your spot." The line starts up at 6 am whether you get there at 11 the night before or not.

yeah. I mean, it sounds kinda jerky, but don't break the rules and expect to get rewarded because you had good intentions.
