Well dam. I was planning on leaving tomorrow morning, catching a Cubs game, hanging out Friday night and heading over to SF Sat morning. NOW I HAVE TO LEAVE NOW!!!!

Gonna try and get out of here around 4 or 5am. That will put me at SF around 9:30 or so. I'll swing by and see how the line looks if folks were allowed to stay.

For Sunday, I'm now thinking I might just sleep in a bit and catch the Bengals game somewhere then head over around 4pm. I can live with being back by the sound desk on night 2.

Once again, safe travels all! Romi, you are da man!!

No, the line in Hawaii was hardcore. The venue said if you line up you stay. People spent two days in line only being able to leave for minutes at a time to their cars.

Needless to say, I didn't line up.

We were allowed a max of an hour or 2 hours so we could drive back to our hotels and shower.

But nonetheless, it was hardcore and I don't want to experience a line like that again!

They should have branded us since we were treated like cattle.

some people were mentioning that Bono is going to sing take me out to the ballgame @ the game tomorrow night...as far as I know though it is completely unconfirmed.

I think everyone should just wait see what happens tonight. See if they are allowed to stay and campout or not.

I am going to the Cubs game tomorrow...I hear Bono is singing take me out out to the ball game.

Are you serious? I will have to DVR the game. Have you ever been to Wrigley Field before? Lousy team this year, but you will see why people still go. It is the worlds best beer garden!

I can't imagine Bono chatting with those chuckleheads in the WGN Broadcast booth.

Maybe I'll check once more in the AM...but for now I am (mostly) packed and ready to shove off tomorrow at 9:00am for the drive from CLE to Chicago.

Be safe all and have fun...

Hope to meet some of you at the Meet up at The Hard Rock Hotel  Friday nite!!!

Haha guys I just made it into soldier field a few minutes ago and was able to see the band and everything from the 2nd level. took a pic and as soon as i did 3 guys descended upon me and then threw my ass outta there. Was a good time. There are a few people just hanging around the stadium right now just listening to the sound check. Such a cool atmosphere, to have bono's voice and edge's guitar echoing through my neighborhood. Can't wait til Sat night....

I made it, I is in America - yay! Everyone here has American accents! I even heard someone on the metro say "Oh my Gaaawd, for reeeel? Get outta here" which made me smile.

But I did something to my lower back getting off a bus in London this morning, actually almost 24 hours ago now. And then I had to lug 26kg around with me.

Looking forward to taking a walk down to Soldier Field tomorra for a wee scout around, and digging the beautiful Chicago scene. And then getting Interferenced. Look for the stoop!

Sorry to change the subject, but....

I'm traveling alone, like so many others, so I am watching the CTA website for updates regarding public transportation, and this was posted today. I'm not using the blue line, but I know there has been a lot of talk here about the blue line, so I am hoping someone local can weigh in and give some insight as to how this will impact people using the blue line. This is on the CTA website under Press Releases.

Rail Service Temporarily Suspended in Blue Line’s Dearborn Subway This Weekend
9/10/2009

The final phase of the Dearborn Subway project begins this weekend and will focus on renewing 19,000 feet of track along the south end of the subway. Rail service between the Blue Line’s Clark/Lake and UIC-Halsted stations will be temporarily suspended from 10 p.m. Friday, September 11 until 4 a.m. Monday, September 14, as work continues to replace track.

Bus shuttles will operate as a substitute for rail service making stops adjacent to the Clark/Lake, Washington, Monroe, Jackson, LaSalle, Clinton and UIC-Halsted stations. Southbound buses will travel along Clark and Van Buren and northbound buses will operate via Harrison and Dearborn.

Both the Clark/Lake and UIC-Halsted stations are accessible to customers with disabilities.

Trains will operate normally from Forest Park to UIC-Halsted and from O’Hare to Clark/Lake. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

In 2007, CTA began a project to eliminate existing slow zones in the Dearborn subway that were having a major impact on travel time for riders. With the funds available at the time, CTA was able to make repairs that allowed trains to resume normal speeds.

From July to September 2007, repairs were made to 6,336 feet of slow zones between the Damen and Clark/Lake stations. Crews replaced more than 5,000 deteriorated wooden rail ties with concrete rail ties.

The first two phases of the current project were completed six weeks earlier than originally anticipated due to improvements in how the work was sequenced. So far, more than 20,000 feet of track have been replaced just north of the Division station to just south of the Grand station. Trains have resumed normal speeds from Division to Clark/Lake as a result, allowing riders to experience faster travel times.

Crews are replacing deteriorated wooden half ties with concrete half ties, running rail and contact (third) rail to remove emerging slow zones and help prevent the creation of new slow zones.

Phew....I did not need any more stress today. It doesn't affect me. So YAY!!!!

Oh and I think it's really shitty that people are lining up now. WTF!

ROMI - if you check in here - (or anyone else that is at Soldier Field tonight)-

Are the wristbands just a more 'official' placeholder - meaning more official than writing a sharpie # on your hand? Or are they so you can leave the line and come back the afternoon of the show? I am in Aurora, about an hour from the stadium- do I drive out tonight??? Arrgghhh need more info :(

I was at the Hawaii show and got in the GA line at 1 pm and still got into the inner circle. On July 18, I was at the Berlin show and showed up around 5 pm and was three rows deep on the outside rail. Just thought that I would share my last two experiences. I think too many people stress out and don't realize how much room there will be on the field.

Parking...

Nothing too exciting. Although the thought of U2 Randomly announcing a lottery for the inner claw/bomb shelter was pretty funny.

Any advise on where to park for 2.5 days thats real close to Soldier Field...I saw Millenium was something like $24 for 24 hours. Do they allow overnight parking?

:hyper::applaud::hyper::applaud::hyper:

I'm excited for everyone going!!

and safe traveling for everyone as well !

A QUESTION....

I'm going to be at a Net Cafe for a few of the Set List Parties.... here in "The States"
( I was elsewhere for free for the Euro SLP's by the time difference

I don't want to spend too much money before they start.......

so what time are they saying for U2 to go on?

a "ballpark" figure obviuosly --
and i'll be an hour later being on the East Coast.....
