Okay so this is gonna be a new survivor like thing that I'm gonna run. Basically we're gonna do a poll for every song U2 have ever released and have a constantly updating ranking as we go along. The plan is to do two polls a day, generally one album track and one b-side/non-album single. Each poll will run for one day, except for the weekend on Saturday four polls will be posted and they will be open for 2 days as people are generally here less on the weekend. You'll basically be rating each song on a 1-10 scale, you do not need to conform to any set standard EXCEPT please vote the same way in each round. For example if you think I Will Follow is an 8 and New Year's Day is equally good then please give it the same score so that results are consistent.

So here's the songs we'll be doing for the Boy round, if you think there's any others that we are missing please let me know

1.I Will Follow
2.Twilight
3.An Cat Dubh
4.Into The Heart
5.Out Of Control
6.Stories For Boys
7.The Ocean
8.A Day Without Me
9.Another Time, Another Place
10.The Electric Co.
11.Shadows And Tall Trees
12.Boy/Girl
13.Another Day
14.11 O'clock Tick Tock
15.Touch
16.Things To Make And Do
17.Speed Of Life
18.Saturday Night
19.The Fool
20. Street Mission
21. Cartoon World (Live)

8 from me, I really do enjoy the song even if sometimes is a little overrated. And hey how can a song where the band play a bicycle be bad?

I gave it a 6. Maybe a lowball, but it's probably my 4th-5th favorite song on Boy, tops.

Bit of a hard selection ... if there were an 8.5 option, I'd have chosen it. I went for 8, figuring that I'll keep 9 for truly great songs.

Pretty much all the songs from Boy are going to get high ratings from me. Outstanding album.

8. Wouldn't mind never hearing it played live ever again, but that is one hell of a guitar riff.

I gave it a 5. Not a bad song by all means, however no where near the best. I like the 'your eyes' section of the song best where it breaks down. One of the better songs from Boy, but yeah, nowt special. A middle of the road 5/10

If we're voting in relativity to how decent the song is against other U2 songs, I consider I Will Follow to be an average song in the U2 canon. Unquestionably enjoyable and thematically important, yet less exceptional than a lot of other U2 songs.

If you want to vote based on relativity to other U2 songs you can just keep it constant throughout the entire series

I give it an 8. Not my favorite from the album, but it's a great energetic song, and one I hardly ever skip when my iPod is on shuffle.

yep. such a great debut.

I give it a 7.
My least favourite of all the "big" U2 songs, but it's still a good tune with an incredible riff.
Never want to hear it live agian though, much inferior to Gloria.

Maybe it's unfair to judge some songs by their studio versions, i mean then we'd all think Crazy sucks

Actually, in all seriousness, do you want people to just vote on the basis of studio or not? Because if live versions are included, my ranking of songs like 11 O'clock Tick Tock will go way up. Studio only, 11OTT will be lucky to get a six. Live, I'd give it 20 if I could.

I'd say if you want do it by voting in a kind of best of both worlds way and take into account both.

Personally I'm just gonna vote mostly on studio versions excluding a few songs that really shone a lot more live and deserve some recognition

Sweet, 10s for 11OTT, Exit, Hawkmoon, and Bullet then.

For me this is worth a 7. I love the bridge with Bono's accent on 'your eyes make a circle'. I don't know if it is a damn bicycle or clanging beer bottles or anything, but that is some innovative stuff.

Easily one of their better earlier songs - and a marker in U2's career, but overall doesn't come top
