Bono is determined to enjoy U2's world tour because he fears it could be their last.

(BANG) -

Bono fears U2 will split up.

The singer says he and his bandmates - guitarist The Edge, drummer Larry Mullen Jr. and bassist Adam Clayton - are determined to enjoy their upcoming world tour because they fear it could be their last.

He said: "We want to play for each other as much as we want to play for the crowd this time. You just don't know how long you are going to be doing this. When we walk out on stage, the hairs on people's necks go up - but what people don't know is that the hairs on our necks go up too."

Larry is concerned their fans won't want to part with their money to watch them, even though tickets have been priced reasonably.

He said: "Will we sell it out? Who knows? Will the economic situation have an impact? Probably. But that's not going to stop us."

Larry recently admitted he wants the group to retire while they are still at the top.

He said: "There will be a time when it's like, 'It's time to go.' I would like that to be on a high when you're still achieving as opposed to the curve down. That'll be sad for me. I think it'll be a more dignified time to go."

Bono predicting U2 split: Gossip [1/1] - Elle Canada : Today

I hope this doesn't happen :(

Larry recently admitted he wants the group to retire while they are still at the top.

But they have said this bit for a decade now.

Just looks like a random smattering of quotes that have more shock value when you make up a title like "Bono sez the band is splitting up!!!111"

Wasn't this posted before somewhere else a few months ago. Or at least something like it.

Nope I'd say its for real this time, esp the way Larry has been going on lately saying he doesent enjoy it that much anymore (except playing live), and he has insisted he wants to spend more time with his family,

I think this would be a good thing for them, I'd say 1 more album (SOA) and tour it, and then become like the The Rolling Stones as in tour every 10 years and maybe bring out a new album every now and then,

No doubt U2 are still one of the best bands around atm, but I really get where Larry is coming from by saying he wants to go out on top.

Oh, this article again.

Taking things out of context, anyone?

Everything for a sensational story, I hate that kind of journalism.

They didn't have any crap album yet , so they are bound to stay:shifty:

^^
That's right.

Those are random quotes put together for shock value. They'll tour again. Bono couldn't go without 20,000 + people cheering for him very long!

And Larry is just in denial phase of his life. (I guess he never got out of it:hmm:.)

In the words of Public Enemy "Don't believe the hype"!

They've been saying stuff like that for years, all of them. The media likes to jump on these quotes and makes them seem "spectacular". I don't think U2 will ever "split up" formally. They will just stop touring or start making more individual side projects. And yes, they have a 12 year Live Nation contract. They also wanted to build a new studio, unfortunately, the U2 tower fell victim to the economic crises. But all this doesn't sound like a band who is thinking about giving it up.

What I want to know is, why hasn't Bono been on Top Gear yet? Unless they are afraid he'll make up his own route on the track, but other stars have done that. Stig will take care of him.

:sexywink:

I don't think they care for U2 that much on Top Gear. :reject: I'm a huge fan. They make fun of Bono having a Maserati.

And one of them says, "This car is like U2. At first you're like, 'Oh shit, not this again'. But then you say, 'Wow. It's pretty damn good."

But that would be pretty awesome if Bono/Edge/Adam/Larry were on Top Gear. But I also think that it's mostly British guests. There was a Welsh man on once. :hmm:

Last I heard Wales was part of Britain, or the United Kingdom

I thought I'd seen Irish guests on Top Gear, anyway - it doesn't really matter though, because the interview is always the worst part of the episode regardless of who they're talking to.

Oh, oops.
Well, they just always say it's boring, I guess.

Haha definitely.
