You fight for the improvement of society, and you support a party which denies society even exists.
You want "better rights for hard working people" and then you say "stuff the miners."
You say that no one messes with Maggie, then you say "how dare they hold the PM to ransom." Do you really think they had the capacity?
You're a bag of contradictions, madforit, and it's quite hard to take when you're spouting ignorance. At least try and sound as though you know what you're talking about.
1- Thatcher denied that society existed. In her context she reffered to society bailing people out, ready to step in and offer handouts. To be fair i agree with her speech.
"I think we've been through a period where too many people have been given to understand that if they have a problem, it's the government's job to cope with it. 'I have a problem, I'll get a grant.' 'I'm homeless, the government must house me.' They're casting their problem on society. And, you know, there is no such thing as society. There are individual men and women, and there are families. And no government can do anything except through people, and people must look to themselves first. It's our duty to look after ourselves and then, also to look after our neighbour. People have got the entitlements too much in mind, without the obligations. There's no such thing as entitlement, unless someone has first met an obligation."
People should make some effort themselves to have a better life rather than laze around. BUT with the current economic situation some hard working people have suffered so they deserve support. Those unemployed for more than 4 years should get no money and left to starve. Why pay someone who has put nothing in the tin for 4 years?
Perhaps i was wrong to use the word society, but what i am trying to say is that in the UK right now a lot of people are uncivilised. They are like animals. Handouts wont provide people with common sense and RESPECT for fellow hardworking citizens i.e no theiving, stabbing, shooting, car jacking etc Thiose who break the rules should be made to do hard labour or be used for medical testing. They are a threat to normal hardworking people who go about not harming other people, like me and you. Measures have to be taken to ensure that us normal folk can lead a safe life.
2- The miners actions were rediculous. They thought they could take Thatcher down like they did with Ted Heath. They failed. She was prepared. She imported coal from Poland so that the strike did not disrupt power in the UK.
3 - The miners succeeded in getting rid of Ted Heath so yes, they had the capability to destroy Thatcher but luckily she curbed the powers of the unions. Otherwise we would be like France with strikes all the time.
