If I set my VBR quality to "highest" on iTunes when ripping mp3s, should I just choose 128kbps as the baseline? From what I understand, the bitrate you choose will be the minimum, and that if you choose "highest" for quality you'll end up getting something like 320 when it counts anyway. The baseline--i.e., 128--will only be used for the least complicated parts anyway, so will it make much of a difference if those least complicated parts are in 128 vs. 224?
So I guess what I'm asking is this:
If I'm ripping mp3s with a VBR and I choose "highest" for quality, does it really matter what I set for the minimum bitrate?
