Hey I love both movies, but while I was walking out of the theater after Fight Club I wasn't sure if I was supposed to hit the dude in front of me, kiss the guy in front of me, or a combination of the two...

That movie was hella gay.

Fight Club rocked. I think it could be described as homo erotic, but I don't think it's "gay" per se.

I always liked Iron Eagle better than Top Gun. The plane scenes were more abundent, and Jason Gedrick made me believe that I could grow up to steal an Air Force jet, fly over some nondescript Mid Eastern country, and light it up. Tom Cruise never gave me the feeling that I could ever get either Kelly McGillis or Val Kilmner.

You know, in hindsight, Top Gun really really sucked.

So to answer the query, it's a gay movie sold to straight people under the guise of American Military Supremacy. lol, beach volleyball.

Brad Pitt in Fight Club

I don't think I've ever seen Top Gun all the way through. And everytime I come across it on cable it's the scene where they're all singing the Righteous Brothers to Kelly McGillis - or was that Cocktail?

Ditto.

That scene is in Top Gun, you're right.

Like U2dem said, it satisfies everyone.

[q]I'd say it was the right time
To walk away
When dreaming takes you nowhere
It's time to play
Bodies working overtime
Your money don't matter
Time keeps ticking
When someone's on my mind (on my mind)

I'm moving in slow motion
Feels so good
It's a strange anticipation
Knock, knock, knocking on wood
Bodies working overtime
Man against man
And all that ever matters
Is baby who's ahead in the game
Funny but it's always the same

Playing, playing with the boys
Staying, playing with the boys
After chasing sunsets
One of life's simple joys
Is playing with the boys

Said it was the wrong thing
For me to do
I said it's just a boys' game
But Girls play too
My heart is working overtime
In this kind of game
People get hurt
I'm thinkin that the people is me
If you want to find me, I'll be

Playing, playing with the boys
Staying, playing with the boys
After chasing sunsets
One of life's simple joys
...is the boys

I don't want to be the moth around your fire
...with the boys
I don't want to be obsessed by my desire
Your shining, Your smiling
I've seen enough
...with the boys
I'm staying here
You play too rough

Playing, playing with the boys
I'll be staying, playing with the boys
After chasing sunsets
One of life's simple joys
Is playing with the boys
Playing with the boys[/q]

Everytime I eat antipasto I think of Louis Gossett Jr cause of Iron Eagle. How weird is that?

And no, I won't take it back. I kept envisioning scenes and realizing they were all so friggin' bad:

-You've Lost that Lovin Feeling (Not in Cocktail, by the way. Cocktail is a GOOD movie.) complete with mic toss. Awful.
-Goose's and Meg Ryan on the piano. Awful.
-Goose's death. Awful.
-Tom Cruise staring in the mirror after Goose dies. Awful.
-Iceman's friend. Ugh.
-Tom Skerrit revealing Tom Cruises "destiny/history". Awful.
-Buzzing the tower and the subsequent cheewing out. Awful.
-Kelly McGillis. Good.
-Kelly McGillis dressing as a man? Still good, but she looks better as a woman.

Yeah, it's a stupid movie. :refusestotakeitback:

Give Me Some Lovin' > Danger Zone.

I'm going to say that they are gay guys trying to act straight (cough* Katie Holmes *cough), there just isn't a good reason for straight guys to act gay in the military.

Good question.

I think they're gay, but they don't know it. Except Goose, who I think is straight; and Iceman's partner, he knows he's gay. Iceman might know it too, but probably not. Maverick is probably bisexual.

See, while you were thinking about this stuff, I was looking at Kelly.

While you were looking at Kelly I was sizing up the competition to get to her. Notice my only real competition was Goose? And where's Goose now? BAM! HAHA.

Does it sadden anyone else that this thread has more intelligent insight than any other thread in the interference universe?
