The American military could fight this war without taking any casualties (or very few). Because we go out out of our way to NOT KILL civilians is the reason so many of our troops have died. I know EXACTLY what I am talking about. Despite losing 17 men in Iraq, my unit showed incredible restraint and professionalism.

Any threat to our forces could easily be eliminated - but it would cost the lives of many innocent people, so we hold back.

You really have no idea what you are talking about.

Talk about armchair warriors.

3000 Americans were not killed on 9-11-2001

Way too many
people have died
are dying
and will continue to be killed

because misrepresentations, exaggerations, half-truths, whole lies, and jingoistic worthless false patriotism

Quote:
The night before the burial of her husband's body, Katherine Cathey refused to leave the casket, asking to sleep next to his body for the last time. The Marines made a bed for her, tucking in the sheets below the flag. Before she fell asleep, she opened her laptop computer and played songs that reminded her of 'Cat,' and one of the Marines asked if she wanted them to continue standing watch as she slept. "I think it would be kind of nice if you kept doing it," she said. "I think that's what he would have wanted."

I agree with this.

I assure you that my patriotism is not jingoistict, worthless, or false.

BTW - my Paladin in World of Warcraft is willing to die (and he dies very, very often) for the Alliance. The Hunters, Warriors, and Mages all see the worth in this.

I intensely disagree with this sentiment. And I suspect you do as well, if you are a republican. Or, infact, anyone, really. It's only really used in debates when someone throws out their sensitive real life situation and implies "Go on, dare you to criticise and be insensitive enough to insult my very real experience', etc. I think we can say with absolute certainty that not everyone who experiences war in the military understands the truths of war, nor does someone who has never undertaken a posting in their lives necessarily lack an absolute understanding of it.
