We are calling John Mccain a conservative? Wow we like to stretch it around here. My vote is for Zell Miller.

Are we calling Zell Miller a liberal? Talk about stretching it ...

Clinton is kinda sweet & amusing. I don't respect him as a GREAT leader or anything. I just think he holds himself in a very cute way.

sarah it's funny that you say that. I've always been rather attracted to Bill lol.

But, that doesn't answer the question cuz i am a democrat.

He's not a political leader but I have always seen Billy Graham as a person of compassion. I have a great deal of respect for anybody that tries to be comassionate.

The man is arguably the most intelligent president in the past 50 years - I think he is very close to Jimmy Carter.

Bob Dole. I have always had a lot of respect for him even though I didn't vote for him when he ran against Clinton.

He comes across as an intelligent and compassionate man who is also very likable and willing to listen to the other side.

He also has a great sense of humor which made him seem more "human" and obtainable as far as politicians go. This asset was unfortunately downplayed during his presidential campaign, as his advisors told him to play the stiff conservative and ditch the humor so he could be taken more seriously.

Plus, I don't know about other people here that remember, but I felt real bad when he fell off the podium... and felt even worse that the media kept harping on that one incident.

When I say close to Jimmy Carter I mean in terms of intellect - not anything else

Are you talking about Clinton?

Ok, in Australia, people of opposite politics, I'd say Alexander Downer. I don't agree with a lot of the policy, but he does his job well.

If it's the US, Colin Powell for the same thing. You've got the least popular US Administration in forever (in international terms), but Powell is still so highly respected by everyone. I think it's because he speaks the way the whole Administration should (eg he actually answers questions properly) and I do think he's the only one there who actually sees a bigger picture. So while I still disagree with him on many, many points, at least, unlike the rest of his 'crew' (Bush, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Cheney) he appears to think things through.
