I have heard some of the sentiment you mention regarding TRUMP! and Putin, also to some extent, some of the same people wish America had a leader like Putin instead of Obama (perceived strong Vs. perceived weak).

Yet i wonder what they would make of this:

And I'm sympathetic to the women and children marred by civil war, but most of the Syrian refugee stream flowing into Europe are battle age single men.

Polling indicates a majority of Americans (~60-65% if memory serves me right) are at odds with the President on the issue of admitting Syrian refugees at all.

For me personally I think we should have a pause to make sure we are on sure-footing on our security screening. Then families go to the front of the line.

I'm not an extremist like Cher who wants to send them back to ISIS.

Suggesting that it's wrong of Germany to continue to use the title is about as dumb as suggesting we abandon the term "sheriff" because we had shady southern cops during segregation.
