Heres a question for ya. We are all obviously here because we like/have liked u2. I realise there are likely to be people who like u2, but have other acts ahead of them in the pecking order.
So, am thinking, are u2 yer No1, if not, where do they rank in your list?

For the record, U2 are my No1 faves by some distance.....followed some way behind by James in 2nd place

Hows about you?

:reject: 6th

1. Kate Bush
2. Todd Rundgren
3. The Police
4. Tori Amos
5. The Cure
6. U2

There are parts of U2's work that rank ahead of any artist but there is so much that I don't like that came out in this last decade. There isn't weakness like that in any of the artists I like above U2.

It's probably a close call but...

1. U2 (if only for AB and Zooropa)
2. The Smashing Pumpkins
3. The Rolling Stones

U2 in no. 1 for me. If it wasn't for nostalgia factor they may move down a few slots. I just have too many memories invested in them.

1. U2
2. Peter Gabriel
3. Yes (70's only!!)
4. Blur
5. Red Hot Chili Peppers
6. Collective Soul
7. King Crimson
8. Third Eye Blind

1-U2 [no doubt]
2-Pearl Jam
3-The Police
4-The Clash
5- Echo & The Bunnymen
6- The Who

U2,
Joy Division,
The Beatles,
The Pixies,
Radiohead,

At the end of the 90's I would have said this was a close contest but not anymore.

It's the exact opposite for me. During the 90s I was way more crazy about them and U2 was far and away the top band in my life. Now they're still in my Top 5 but it's not so black and white anymore. The Beatles, U2, Pearl Jam, REM, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Tori Amos are all up there but don't ask me who is #1.

U2 is first, but it's veeeery close.

Well, while I'm at it, here's my top 10. Haven't done this in a while.

1) U2
2) Relient K
3) FFH
4) Casting Crowns
5) Matchbox Twenty
6) David Crowder
7) Chris Tomlin
8) Rich Mullins
9) Sugarland
10) Third Day

Top Seven (and then some)

1) The Beatles
2) U2
3) Bob Dylan
4) Prince
5) The Police (and Sting before 1994)
6) The Stone Roses
7) Counting Crows

Runners-Up are The Byrds, Bob Marley, Juliana Hatfield, and maybe Sinead O'Connor. If you're into older stuff I love Louis Armstrong and Billie Holiday a lot. Also Art Blakey and John Coltrane.

Damn! I forgot to put Michael Bolton on my list....

Nah, I'm planning on catching the rumored stadium summer tour next year. One night at Wachovia is too hard to get a hold of.

Frank Sinatra (not a joke)
U2
Donald Fagen/Steely Dan

And they would be followed by
the entire Stax catalogue
the entire Motown catalogue pre-1970
As many New Orleans artists as can fit into Rock N Bowl

I guess that means I'm more into funk/soul than anything else, with a lot of classics thrown in.

Excluding classical and foreign stuff no one else would care about....

U2
The Killers
David Gray
Indigo Girls
The Cure
Coldplay :reject:
Queen
Newsboys
etc, etc, etc....

So yeah, U2 are *still* my favorite band, however my favorite singers/vocalists are:

Elton John :reject:
Freddy Mercury
Bono
etc, etc, etc...
